Megan's POV:

Evie makes me stand on a podium, while she makes a dress around me. It's green. I can't wear the colour green. But I don't want to hurt her. Mal then walks into the room, and I see disgust in her eyes at the colour of the dress, she locks eyes with me and I nod.

"Evie, I'm not sure if this is her colour." Mal says. I mouth 'thank you'. to Mal, and she nods.

"What are you talking about? I think it's perfect." She replies, making me roll my eyes and pull my arms together. Evie comes behind me and pulls my shoulders back harshly.

"Evie, why are you making so much of an effort? It's Mal's special night not mine." I say to her, trying to control my 'evil side'.

"What do you mean?" She says, then she admires her work muttering 'Impeccable'. She then looks back to me. "It's your special night too."

"And why's that?" I ask.

"Because it's the night Alex becomes Royal Advisor, which means it's the night that he becomes next in line for the throne." Evie explains, going around and fiddling with the dress. "That means it's the night that you become a lady and that you become the next Queen in line for the throne after Mal."

"What?" Mal and I ask in unison. "What do you mean next in line?" We both ask.

"Did you not know any of that?" She asks. We both shake our heads.

"Does that mean that my entire life is now planned out and I have to deal with it?" I ask her. She nods, and I look back to Mal.

"Evie?" Mal asks. Evie hums in acknowledgement.

"Do you ever think about what we would be doing if we we're back on the Isle right now?" Mal asks.

"That's funny." Evie absentmindedly replies, thinking she was joking. There is then some music from the TV, and then it comes up with Mal, Ben, myself and Alex.

"As the two Royal couples,  continue their tour of the kingdom, they dined with Aladdin and Jasmine. Six months ago, no one thought King Ben and Royal Advisor Alex and their girlfriends, from the wrong side of the bridge, would last. Mal and Megan must be counting the days until the Royal Cotillion when they will officially become Ladies of the Court." The reporter on the TV, showing different shots of Ben, Mal, Alex and I. The pictures then focus on Alex and I, this morning when he left to go for a meeting. "However, we can't help but notice the longing glances as the pair seem to spend less and less time together. Could there be some trouble in their paradise?"

I choke on the drink I was drinking.

"Okay, that is none of her business." I comment.

"Yeah, but I do notice the 'longing glances'. If you're not happy about it, maybe you should be talking to Alex. Although, you must say that it's amazing here." Evie replies, really not seeing that Mal and myself are starting to change.

"And she said 'Ladies of the Court'?" I ask. Evie nods, and then starts writing some things on a clipboard. I rush over to Mal and we both sit on her bed, she pulls out her spell book and a book on how to be a 'Lady'. I take the book in my hand and duplicate it. I hand it back to Mal, and we both read the spell from the spell book.

"Read it fast at lightning speed. Remember everything I need." We both incant, we then wave our hands at our own copy of the other book. My glows purple, and then I open it and do exactly what the spell allowed me to do. Read it fast, and remember how to act like a lady.

"I know Mal and Megan's secret for fitting in, and I know Ben and Alex wouldn't like it one bit." Evie says to us, we just continue to read. "Haven't you guys had enough secrets between yourselves and your boyfriends already?"

"Evie, you remember what we were like before we started using my spell book. I mean, we were complete disasters." Mal says.

"Well, personally, as your best friend, I believe that the spell book belongs in the museum along with my mirror. Along with this." Evie says, picking up Mal's spell book and then taking my necklace from under the ugly dress. Mal gives her the pout, but I just take my necklace back. Recently I figured out, that no necklace means no proper magic, I can do some simple things- but not the true things. "Don't give me the face. Put the pout away, you know I'm right."

"You don't ever miss running wild and just breaking all the rules?" I ask Evie.

"Like stealing and lying and fighting?" Evie asks.

"Yeah." Mal and I reply, enthusiastically.

"No." Evie replies, as if it was the right and only answer.

"What?" Mal asks.

"Why would we? M's, come here." Evie replies, taking mine and Mal's hands and bringing us to her desk. "Look at where we are, we're in Auradon. We're Auradon girls now."

"Since Mal has admitted her love of strawberries, she has received hundreds of cartons from her admirers." The reporter says on the TV.

Evie squeals and pulls Mal and myself into a side hug. But I just can't help but feel like I don't belong here. "See, this is the land of opportunity. We can be whoever we want to be here. Let's just leave the past in the past, okay?" We don't answer, she then looks at some green boots on the table. "I mean, look at the shoes. Look at them."

"Severe." Mal and I comment. Evie laughs, and as she turns we both hide our sad faces and chuckle.

"I'm going to go and get ready." I say, the girls nod and Evie takes the dress off of me. I go back into my room and get ready for school, but for some reason, I just don't feel like this is the place for me anymore.
