Austin's P.O.V-
"Austin, Austin!" Julia came shrieking to me, running into my arms. I kissed her forehead and held her at arms length.
"What, what?!" I replied. She looked excited and out of breath.
"It's Natalie! She's, she's coming back!" She grinned.
Natalie? Natalie?!
"Natalie Smith?" I asked, still trying to figure out what she meant.
Julia rolled her eyes impatiently. "Yes, you silly boy. Who else would it be? She's coming back tomorrow morning!" She grinned.
"That's awesome!" I replied, but then instantly felt sad remembering out last encounter, and how I rejected her. And to make matters worse, I was dating her old best friend. I hoped it wouldn't be awkward.
Julia giggled and stood on her tip toes to kiss me, "Bye Austy."
Inwardly, I winced, remembering that was Natalie's pet name for me.
"Bye Julia." I said with no emotion, and walked away.
Natalie's P.O.V-
It was four in the morning when I finally arrived at my mom's house.
"Mom!" I ran into her arms as she opened the front door. It was so long since I was able to hug her.
"Natalie," She held me at arms length looking me up and down, "You look so different! So much skinnier, and tanner, Your hair is so long! Have you been working out?"
I laughed, "Mom, can we go inside first? I'm exhausted."
Austin's P.O.V-
Julia and I walked the front steps to the front door of Natalie's house. My hands were shaking and Julia was fidgety. We haven't really kept in touch over the past two years.
"You ready?" Julia asked, turning to me.
I smiled at her, and nodded. She rang the doorbell. We waited what seemed like a matter of seconds before Natalie's mom, Mrs. Smith open the door. She was tall and fit, with light brown hair and pretty blue eyes, like Natalie's.
She smiled like she had been expecting us. "Julia! Austin! It's so nice to see you again! Come in." She opened to door for us, and gestured inside.
We all walked in and sat on the couch, awkwardly looking at eachother.
"I'm sorry," Mrs. Smith apologized, "Would you like something to eat? Drink?"
We both shook our heads and Julia asked where Natalie was.
Mrs. Smith's eyes widened and she planted the heel of her hand into her forehead. "Duh!" She chuckled, "You're here to see Natalie! I'll go wake her up." She went upstairs then quickly came back down.
"She'll be down soon." She said.
I glanced aroung the living room. It looked like any normal living room, witha couch and a recliner, with a big tv. There was a guitar in the corner of the room.
Mrs. Smith must have seen me looking because she said, "Natalie learned to play while she was gone. Maybe she'll play for you guys sometime."
"That would be like, so cool!" Julia replied, locking her fingers with mine.
Natalie's mom glanced down at our hands, then back to our faces. Sadness was etched across her face.
I looked down, feeling embarrassed, but not letting go of Julia's hand.
Just then, I heard footseps coming down the stairs. All of our heads turned and Julia and I both took a sharp intake of breath when we saw her.
Natalie. But it wasn't what we were expecting.
Even though she was in her pajamas and her hair was tied up, she looked gorgeous.
Her skin was tanned, her hair long and straight and blonde, her legs, arms, and stomach were toned, and athletic looking. But her eyes, her eyes were the same sparkling blue they always were.
And they were glaring at me and Julia's entwined hands.
