Me and my sister drove to school in silence. Once I get to school I slowly walked my way over to my best friend Kellie. I am very nervous about today. The cast on my arm and multiple bruises aren't helping either. These injuries are bringing a lot of unnessecary attention.   Attention that I do not need.

I approached Kellie with unease. She looked me over before saying, "Luce, you look like hell. What did you do?"

That was Kellie for ya'. She never tells me what I want to hear. She always tells me the truth. Even in kindergarden. I remember when I made a painting. I thought it was going to be a "masta piece!" as I use to call it. She went up to me and said "What's tat suppose ta be?" We were best friends ever since.

"Thanks Kell. I was a victim of a house fire," I explained.

"That sucks. You're always welcome at my place, you know," she told me.

It was really nice of her to offer, though its an empty offer. Her parents are on a rough patch. They are sleeping in different rooms. There isn't enough room for me. Even if there was, I wouldn't want to listen to her parents argue.

I smiled at her. I knew she honestly wanted to help me.

"Thanks, but I have already got plans. I'm staying at my Grandma's house until I figure something out," I told her.

"Let me walk you to class," she offered.

I nodded. We started to walk towards the enterance of the school. Maybe it was all in my head. Maybe people won't even notice, I thought as I walked into the school. I started to think that maybe I was wrong about people staring.

As I walked in I was greeted by the smell of cotten candy perfume, Axe, and sweat. There is multiple enterances in the school. I usually enter the school in the Gym hallway. It is closer to the stairs that lead to my locker.

I started to walk down the hallway, hoping no one would be in this hallway today. I was in no luck today. Today the Football team had an afternoon game, so they got the morning off to warm up. Normally I wouldn't mind one bit, but today was not a good day for this.

As I walked by the football players each one stared at me as I walked past. This would be every girls dream if they didn't have a cast on their arm and multiple cuts.

"Knock it off, before I knock your head off!" Kellie warned the people around us who were staring at my arm.

Once Kellie said that they all looked away. A lot of guys were afraid of Kellie. They had no real reason though. She has a lot of bark, but no bite. She has never harmed anyone in this school. She has almost gotten in a fight once, but her bark scared her oppenent away.

"Again, Thanks," I said.

"That's why I wanted to walk you to class. Your too nice, you know that?" she said.

I have heard this way too many times. Everyone thinks I am a goody two shoe who could do no wrong. It does have its pros and cons though. The pros are that most of the teachers take my side. The cons are that no one likes a goody two shoes.

"Yeah, that's what I keep hearing. It's very annoying," I told her.

"Then fix it. I got to go to class. If anyone gives you any trouble,  you set them straight," she said as she walked off.

I headed off to my locker to grab my stuff. I shut my locker as the bell rang.

First period was Science. I went to sit beside the same dork I do every day.

"Hi Dork," I said as I sat down.

"Would it hurt you to call me Carl?" he asked.

"Hi Car..." I made fake gagging noises with my hands around my neck. "Does that answer your question Dork?" I asked. He just rolled his eyes.
