The sixteen year old brunette Nathan Scott enters his mother's cafe. He sneaks up behind his best friend Haley James who was currently bussing tables and hugs her from behind. "Nathan!!!! What are you doing? I'm trying to work!" Haley yelled as she pushed Nathan's arms away from her.
"What I can't say hi to my best friend?" Nathan jokingly said. Haley gave him her famous look. The look of tell me what your going on about or I'll ignore you. He wouldn't break so she did the worst thing imaginable... She started to do her pleading puppy dog eyes. "Oh alright Hales! I give! I got onto the basketball team!!!!!"

At that exact moment Haley dropped all of the plates she was carrying jumped up into the air and hugged Nathan while wrapping her legs around his hips/torso. (It was usually hard for Haley to hug him because of their height difference Haley being 5'3 and Nathan being 6'3)
"Oh My God. Nathan that's amazing! I'm so proud of you!" Just then Nathan's mom Karen walked in and saw them. "What's going on?" Karen questioned. "Nathan got in!!! He gets to play shooting guard in the Ravens!" Haley then let go of Nathan to let his mother hug him. "Honey that is so great. Tonight we are celebrating. Whatever you want for dinner we will have." "Thanks Mom this is gonna be a good year."

Across town the other Scott teenager (this one blonde) was using all of his time to practice. His father practically demanded perfection from him. Nothing was supposed to be fun or enjoyable. It didn't help hat his mother Deb was hardly home and always away on trips for work. She just left him with the abusive man called his father. Lucas made the high school basketball team. Lucas was going to take the spot of point guard.

But his father didn't care about the accomplishment of it. All he cared about was Lucas winning the championship. Lucas was always happy with his life. Mainly with the amount of money he had. But something was always missing. The meaning behind it. He was always envious of Nathan for having a complete family.
Little did Nathan know that his younger brother Lucas was planning to take his "perfect" life away from him.
