Madison drove to work with a smile on her face. She didn't want to read too much into it, but she was happy she had Kasey back in her life. She pulled into her spot at the shop and walked in to her office. "Morning Madison" Brian said coming to the door. "Hi Brian" she said looking up from her computer. "So how are things?" he asked. "Pretty much the same as when I saw you yesterday" Madison said getting a little annoyed. "Ok just wondering" he said with a smirk. "What's that supposed to mean?" she asked. "I don't know I just think you and Kasey have something going on" he said. "I'll let you believe what you want to believe" she said and she left it at that. She couldn't believe that Brian was prying like he was and it wasn't his place. About that time her phone went off and she looked down saw who it was. Hi pretty girl, hope you're having a wonderful day. Hope you'll join me for dinner tonight. Madison typed back that she would and couldn't wait for the end of the day.
"So where are we going?" Madison asked Kasey. "It's one of my favorite places on Lake Norman" he said. "The Rusty Rudder?" she asked. "How did you know?" Kasey asked. "It's one of the best places on the lake and I can just see you hanging out there." "Have you been there?" "Oh yeah plenty of times after being on the lake with some of our friends here." Kasey smiled and helped her out of the car. "How many?" the waitress asked. "Two" Kasey said. They were seated at a table overlooking the lake. They started to make small talk when some people started coming over. "Excuse me but are you Kasey Kahne?" they asked. "Yep that's me" he said. "Can we get a picture?" the fans asked. "Sure" he said. They took the picture and thanked him. "A lot has changed in 7 years" Madison said with a laugh. "What do you mean?" he asked. "Well I mean girls throw themselves at you" she said. "Wait let me take that back that really hasn't changed" she said laughing. "Hey if I do remember you had all the guys in town chasing you and some current NASCAR drivers" he said. "Like whom?" she asked. "Vickers and Jr are all over you" he said. "Right" she said looking back down at her menu. "Dale asked me the other day if I was going to ask you out and if not he was going to" Kasey said. "Yeah I'm not really into those racing types" she said giving him a smile. "You haven't changed one bit" Kasey said. "Yeah well I don't care for change too much, but it's always for the better I think." They ordered their food and made small talk over dinner. Kasey was driving home when Madison brought up something. "Kase do you think if we would have stayed in Washington and stayed together we would be married with kids right now?" she asked. Kasey looked over at her and went back to watching the road. "In all honesty we'll never know, but yes I think we would have." Madison turned to look out the window imagining how life would be if neither of them had ever left.
Madison woke up the next morning and got ready to go to the shop to set up an interview for Brian. She got into her car and figured she'd stop at Starbucks to grab a coffee. The drive-thru was around the building so she parked the car and went inside. "What can I get for you?" the girl behind the counter asked. "Pumpkin Latte" she said. She went to wait at the end of the bar when she noticed Kasey in the corner with a blonde girl. They were really close and laughing. Madison tried not to get noticed and kept watching them. Kasey placed his hand on the girl's knee and that was all Madison needed. "Madison" the barista called out. She grabbed her drink and noticed that Kasey looked up about that time and saw her leaving. "Maddie wait" he said. She tried getting into her car before he had a chance to get to her, but he caught her as she tried to close the door. "She's a friend" he said. "Look Kase, I never said we were in a relationship. It was nice re-living our past, but I know you have a new life." "Madison..." Kasey trailed off. "I have to go" Madison said and drove away.
Kasey arrived back at the apartment where Kale had just woken up. "What's up bro?" Kale asked looking for something to eat. "Well I just messed things up with Madison" Kasey said slumping onto the couch. "What the hell Kasey, what did you do?" Kale asked. "Well I was at Starbucks with Hayley and she saw me talking to her and thought we were together." "Kasey you have hooked up with Hayley quite a bit" Kale said. "I know but I wanted to be with Madison" he said. "Then may I ask were you at Starbucks with Hayley?" Kale asked. "I don't know in all honesty. I guess she missed me and I didn't think coffee would be a big deal." "Well Kasey apparently it is. I mean I know this whole lifestyle is new to you now, but dude Madison was everything to you. Did you tell her about Indiana?" Kale asked. "No" Kasey said. "Well Kasey my advice to you is to grovel and then tell her about what happened in Indiana since you haven't told anyone but me, Kole, and Willie." "I guess you're right" Kasey said. He pulled out his phone to text Madison.
