The day on the boat was a success and they went back to Kasey's house for a cookout afterwards. She walked into the house and into the bedroom where her clothes were and sat down for a minute, taking in everything. She picked up her phone to look at something and a picture on Kasey's wall caught her eye. It was a picture she hadn't seen before and it was of her and Kasey in high school, the summer before he left, and sitting by the river and the other in the same frame was from 10 years ago at the track together. "You didn't know I had kept those all these years" he said coming up behind her. "No I didn't and I didn't recognize them the other night either" she said. "I had to keep a part of you with me, you were my best friend after all" he said. "Kase" she said smiling. "I love you Maddie" he said kissing her. "I love you too" she said. "Let's get back out there."Before she knew it, it was Wednesday and time to go back to reality. She finished packing her bag and went to put it in the car. "Do you have everything?" Kasey asked. "I think so" she said. "I hope you have a safe flight and let me know when you're back home" he said hugging her goodbye. "I will" she said. "I love you Madison" he said. "I love you Kasey." He watched her pull out of the driveway and hoped it wouldn't be the last time they saw each other. She got home 3 hours later. She set her bag down by the door and went to sit on the couch for a minute to catch her breath. Madison couldn't imagine that going to Charlotte for a race would lead to her back to the one boy she could never shake. She went over to her shelf and pulled out her scrapbook. Flipping through the pages she saw her summers with Kasey before and after things changed, then a couple from when she worked for NASCAR. It was something that meant a lot to her and seeing these memories only made her miss Kasey even more. She closed the book and went to take a shower. Kasey was at the shop when he got the text from Madison she was home. "You still love her Kasey admit it" Kale said. "I never said I didn't" Kasey said. "What are you going to do about it then?" Kale asked. "I told her we could work on the long distance thing and see how well that works out and I offered her to move back here and move in with me." "After one weekend you were ready to jump head first weren't you?" he asked. "Yeah, I guess it was somewhat whirlwind" Kasey said. "When are you going to see her again?" Kale asked. "Well we really didn't talk about it, but hopefully soon."

"How was it?" Sherry asked Madison as she sat down at her desk. "It was fine and everyone seemed to have a good time" Madison said. "That's good. I swear I would go after that Kasey Kahne if I wasn't married" Sherry said with a laugh. "Yeah" Madison said turning away and finding something on her desk. "There is an event next week at ACME and there are supposed to be some athletes coming in for it and some of country's biggest stars and I want you to be there" Sherry said. "Alright I can do that" Madison said. "Kasey" Lisa yelled down to him in the shop. "What's up?" he asked. "There is an event in Nashville next week with Mike Helton and Lewis Hamilton and they want you to be there as well" Lisa said. "Really?" he asked. "Yep so are you up for it?" she asked. "You could maybe see Madison while you're there" Kale piped up. "Tell them I'll be there" Kasey said wiping his hands off. "Ok now we fly in Wednesday and leave the next morning to come back here" she said. "Ok sounds good" Kasey said. Madison hadn't even walked in the door two minutes when her phone rang. "Hello?" she answered. "Hey beautiful" Kasey said. "What's up?" she asked. "Well I wanted to let you know I am going to be making an appearance in Nashville next week at some place called the ACME Seed and Feed in downtown and wanted to see you" he said. "Well you will be seeing me because I'm working that event for CMT" Madison said. "Really?" he asked. "Yep, they asked me today actually" she said setting her bag on her couch. "Well so much for wanting to bring you as my date" Kasey said with a laugh. "I guess so" Madison said sitting on her couch. "What are you up to?" he asked. "Nothing really, just got in from work" she said. "Sounds like fun" he said. "You have no idea" she said with a laugh. "Well I have to get back to working on setting up these cars, but I miss you" he said. "Ok I miss you too" Madison replied. "I love you Maddie" Kasey said. "I love you too." Kasey hung up the phone and went back to working on the sprint car he had started setting up. "How's Madison?" Kale asked. "She seems fine" Kasey said. "Well it seems maybe this time you two may work out" Kale said. "It's still early. Remember we thought that all the other times too and we see how well that worked out" Kasey said. "Guess you're right" Kale said.

Madison set her phone on the table and went to get a drink out of the fridge. She couldn't believe that Kasey was going to be at one of her work events and dreaded it somewhat because her boss was going to be there. She heard a familiar ringing from her phone and went to pick it up. "Hello" she answered. "Well I mean I know I'm a mom and all, but no need to ignore me" Heather said on the other end. "I'm sorry, I'm such a bad friend" Madison said. "It's fine; what's new?" she asked. "Working and working" Madison said. "What about Kasey?" Heather asked. "Well he lives in North Carolina and I live here so we talk occasionally" she said. "I guess things are going good right now then" Heather said. "So far yes" Madison said. "Next week he is coming to town to make an appearance at an event in downtown and I'm working it for CMT." "So work and play all in one?" Heather asked. "I don't know. I feel kind of weird about it because my boss will be there" she said. "I wouldn't be nervous, I would embrace it" Heather said. "I guess you're right" Madison replied. "So the reason I'm calling is because we're having a party for Olivia's 2nd birthday and would love Aunt Madison to come" Heather said. "She's already 2? Where has the time gone" Madison said. "Trust me, when Tucker turned 5, I almost couldn't take it" Heather said with a laugh. "I'll be there, when is it?" she asked. "Two weeks from Saturday here at the house" Heather said. "Alright well I have nothing going on so Aunt Madison will definitely be there" she said. "Perfect. Talk to you later Maddie, love you" Heather said. "Love you too." Madison went to lie in bed. She was in awe how at 33, she wasn't married nor had kids. She had preferred that kind of lifestyle through the rest of her 20's after Kasey, but now she regretted it a bit. She looked at the picture of her and Kasey as kids and it reminded her of the night she told Heather she had been pregnant with Kasey's child. "Madison what's wrong? You never skip" Heather said. Madison sat with her knees to her chest, tears staining her face.

"Really Maddie, what is it?" Heather asked again. "I lost the baby" she said sobbing. "What do you mean you lost the baby?" she asked. "About two months ago I took a pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant with Kasey's baby. I wasn't going to tell him and raise it on my own, but I lost it the other day. They don't know what happened, but I feel like I lost another part of me" Madison said crying. "Madison" Heather said coming to hug her. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" she asked. "No one knew except my mom because she figured it out. She knew it was Kasey's. "Madison came back to reality and told herself she needed to live in the present and hope for the best for the future.
