Chapter Two: Just this once.

Present time.

Carmens pov

It's the first day of my junior year at Woodster High. How fun! I think sarcastically, then I smile at my mother who wouldn't let me drive her car here. I got my driver licenses last month, but I don't have a car, so I basically don't have any real freedom. I get out of the car and walk from lot six I wouldn't be caught dead being dropped off by my mom. Emily is waiting for me at lot one, coffee in hand.

"You're late." She notes.

"I know we had ... Car troubles." Car troubles is code for sister problems, Emilys and I came up with it a while back.

"Oh that sucks, here's your caramel latte, might be a little bit cold now." She flips her blond curly locks of hair.

It's a little awkward every time I mention that my family got in a fight. I think Emily isn't sure how she should react. She is an only child after all so I don't blame her. My sisters fight with my parents a lot over different thing but the end result is always the same.

"Thanks," I say, picking up the cup of goodness. I love coffee! If I could I would marry coffee.

Just then the bell rings, signalling the start of school, Emily mutters under her breath and we run into the school. I run to my first homeroom of the year, Latte in hand. I take a seat and try to listen barley understanding a thing the teacher says. I take a sip of my latte, I look around the class about half the students have coffee or monsters, I see one kid with a five hour energy drink. Of course now you're thinking how could drinks be allowed in homeroom? Well the answer is simple. They're not. But since it's the first day of the year who's going to care? As long as everybody doesn't slurp or preset it to Mr. Drags directly, I don't think he will care, that's why we like him, fun and easy is the best way to be a teacher.

"Ah the first day back to school and kids just can't stay awake." Says Mr. Drags, he's young only in his mid twenty's. "Here's your guy's and girls school schedules. I'll call your name you come up here okay?" He looks down and says, "Barbra Avery."

After a few more kids it's my turn to go up, since I'm a "B" for Berkeley. I grab the paper out of Mrs. Drags hand. its white and it will tell me where to go and when to go for the rest of the school year.

I sit back down and look at my schedule for this school year. I note that I have English right after chemistry, and after lunch after Math I h, after math I have french, I hope Emily has at least one of the same classes as me. it would majorly suck if she didn't.

The class end's and so does my coffee, I chuck the empty container in a garbage can out in the hall. I thought comes to mind. Gosh I hope I don't have to pee later or something. My next two classes go by quickly it's just the regular first day back to school.

When I realize that Emily's and I lockers are right across from each other, I smile to myself remembering freshmen year when me and Emily met just because are lockers were near each over.  I was putting in all my textbooks that they gave us in home room, in my locker, when I heard someone come up from behind me.

"Hey there stranger." Emily smiles at me.

"Hi," I say distracted, as I empty out the book bag I had lugged around for two classes.

"This better not be your fist visit to your locker of the day?" Emily asked me.

"Would if it is?" I asked, defiantly.

"Really? Come on dude, my locker is right across from you!" She pointed at her locker aesthetically. She narrowed her eyes at me, "I can't believe our lockers are so close it'll be like freshmen year!" She leans on the locker to my left.
