"That was close." Jin groaned, sitting on the bed as he threw a third empty bag of blood to the floor. His fangs had come out again while he was arguing with Namjoon. He knew he had been too harsh with him, but he had needed to get away quickly. In all reality, he appreciated what the human police were trying to do—he just didn't need their help. Had they only been searching for the hunter, it would be fine, but forcing him to live with a human made things complicated. He couldn't move freely around a human, and he had to constantly watch himself.
"Why does the human have to be Kim Namjoon," he sighed, laying down. It wasn't enough that he was good-looking, but he smelled amazing. And Jin had been an idiot for tasting his blood, because that just made him smell even better, especially when the only thing he'd eaten in the last three days was bagged blood. It was like eating kale when there was a cake right in front of you. Namjoon being injured didn't help anything, either. The bandage on his shoulder did little to stifle the blood smell.
He hadn't realized how long he'd been laying in the room until there was a knock on the door. "Seokjin, you awake?"
Sighing, he went to the door and opened it. "Yes."
"I'm going out to grab some groceries. Is there anything you want?"
"I'm fine, thanks."
"You haven't eaten a single thing since Tuesday. Even if you don't feel like eating, you need to eat something."
"I'm not picky. Whatever you want, I'll eat."
The officer sighed, running a hand through his silver hair in frustration. "Listen, Seokjin, I'm trying here. Neither one of us is happy with this arrangement. Things would go a little smoother if you would meet me halfway. I'd even take a quarter of the way."
"I'm not trying to be difficult," he frowned. "I'll eat whatever you want, so just buy anything."
"Alright. I'm going now, then." Namjoon met his gaze, his dark eyes firm. "Do not leave this apartment. I'm serious."
"I've been lectured enough for one day," he retorted, "so I'll be right here when you get back." When Namjoon continued frowning at him, he added, "I mean it."
"I hope so. Detective Wang will be stopping by when I get back to introduce himself, too."
"A lot of people seem to know our location, for your claims that only your chief and you would know it."
"I think so, too," he sighed. "Chief insisted that someone else from our Seoul department come to Busan to give us back-up in case we need it. I trust Detective Wang, so I'm sure he wasn't the leak. You will be safer with him close by. He can watch the apartment whenever I need to leave."
Jin wasn't convinced, but he wasn't in the mood for another argument, so he just nodded.
"That burner phone has my cell number in it. Call me if you need anything. I should only be gone about twenty minutes."
"I'll be waiting."
With another nod he left Jin alone. Hoping to use the television to distract himself while Namjoon was gone, he wandered into the living room, taking a seat on the sofa. It was still warm where Namjoon had been sitting there, and it smelled strongly of him.
Jin frowned at himself. He didn't know why he was so hyper-aware of every little detail about the officer, and it bothered him. He had been mingling with humans as a vampire for over thirty years, and he was excellent at blocking out their scent. But that wasn't the case with Namjoon.
"You're just stressed out because there's a hunter after you," he told himself, angrily. That had to be it. What else could it be?
He jumped when his phone rang, and he frowned at the unknown number on the screen.
