As soon as they arrived at the safehouse, and Namjoon had double- and triple-checked that it was secure, he had passed out on the living room sofa, not even taking his shoes off.
Jin shut the door to the only bedroom in the tiny apartment and pulled out his phone. After getting hung up on earlier, Hoseok was probably panicking that something had happened to him. He had been friends with the younger vampire for nearly twenty years, and the two had been business partners for nearly as long. He was the person Jin trusted the most after his parents, so talking to him was also honestly a comfort.
"Are you alright? What happened?" The man's panicked voice answered on the first ring.
"I'm fine. That officer heard me talking and cut off the call. We're at the new safehouse now."
"Where are you? I'll come get you and—"
"It's alright, Hobi. I'm in Busan, and I'm safe for now. Whoever leaked my last location was with the police, and Namjoon hasn't told any of them where we are."
"And can you be sure it wasn't that cop who leaked it?"
"Namjoon?" He laughed. "No, it wasn't him."
"But how can you know that for sure?" Hoseok asked.
"It was just the two of us when we got to the first safehouse. If he had been the one to give the hunter my location, he would have just let him kill me. Instead, he went into the house alone—he even got shot."
"And he's still alive?"
"Yes? Hobi, you make it sound like a bad thing."
"If it really was the hunter in there, do you honestly think a regular human could have gotten away alive? This guy killed your mom, dad, and brother—he knows what he's doing, and he's good at it. Would he really have missed if he had been trying to kill that cop?"
Jin frowned. He hadn't thought of that. When Namjoon had gone into the house, Jin was sure he'd be killed, but when he wasn't, he never thought about how he had managed to get away with just a graze.
"Hyung?"
"I'll text you the address, but don't come unless I call you, ok? You can come to Busan if it makes you feel better, but we can't risk you being seen by Namjoon or any other cops--or the hunter. If something happened to you, I would never forgive myself. Besides, I still think I can trust Namjoon."
"Yoongi-Hyung will probably go to Busan while you're there to keep an eye on things, too," Hoseok told him.
He sighed. "I was hoping you wouldn't tell him. I'm actually surprised he hasn't found me and drug me away to some remote island already."
"Trust me, he wanted to," Hoseok laughed, "but I convinced him not to. Since the humans are involved now, it would be too suspicious if you just disappeared. Letting him know where you are is the only thing keeping him from hiding you away regardless of the humans."
Yoongi had been Jin's friend nearly as long as Hoseok, but he was also employed by his family as something of a guardian for him. He had always been great with business things and money, so even though we was younger than Jin, he had been something of a business role model. He was also incredibly protective and wasn't much of a fan of humans.
"I'll call him later. Let him know I'm alright, will you?"
"Will do. Hyung?"
"Hm?"
"We'll find that hunter." He could hear the sadness in Hoseok's voice, and he remembered he wasn't the only one in mourning of his family's deaths. Hoseok and Yoongi had thought of his family as their own, too.
