"This is the building," Hoseok said, looking down at his phone as the three of them ran towards the apartment complex.
Namjoon's stomach was twisted into anxious knots. He'd never gotten so anxious over an assignment before, but he didn't have time to consider what that could have meant. His priority was making sure Jin was safe, first.
"It's on the second floor--third room to the right." Hoseok skipped the elevator, leading them up the stairs as he shoved his phone into his pocket.
"Guns out," Namjoon told Jimin as they rushed towards the door that his cell phone--and Jin--were behind. To Hoseok, he asked, "can you break the lock?"
The vampire smirked at him. "I can snap a deadbolt like a toothpick." He grabbed the handle and pulled, jerking it open.
Namjoon was the first into the room, freezing as soon as he saw the scene just inside the apartment. "What...Jackson?"
The other man slowly turned to face him, a frown on his face.
His eyes drifted down to where Jin was laying on the floor, covered in blood and holding his stomach. Their chief was laying there, too, and Namjoon knew by the amount of blood he was already dead. "What happened? We need to get Jin some help--"
"No, we shouldn't."
Namjoon frowned. "What?"
Jackson sighed. "I was hoping you'd get here a little later than this. I wanted to be finished before you showed up."
"Jackson, what are you talking about?" He asked, stepping towards his friend.
"He's a monster, Joonie. He deserves this."
"I'll show you who's a monster," Hoseok snarled, shoving passed Namjoon.
"I'd rethink that choice if I were you," Jackson said, calmly, as he pointed a gun at Hoseok.
"Put it down, Hyung," Jimin said, standing next to Namjoon, his gun raised.
Namjoon put his hand over Jimin's. "Don't--"
"He's the hunter, Namjoon," Hoseok snapped. "If we don't do something now, Jin is going to die. I don't care how close you were with him, he's in our way, and I'll kill him myself if I have to."
"I'd like to see that," Jackson scoffed.
"Put your gun down, Jackson," Namjoon said, taking another step towards him. "Let's talk about this."
"There's nothing to talk about, Joon. You and Jimin should just turn around and leave."
"I can't do that, Jackson," he knew he sounded pathetic, still pleading with the other man, but he was still slightly in shock. Jackson was the vampire hunter? He had been the one who'd killed Jin's family, and he'd already hurt Jin as well. Namjoon couldn't believe it.
"Why can't you? They're monsters, Joon. They drink human blood and never age. How many humans do you think they've killed while they've been living their cursed lives? I'm saving more people by killing them--"
"We're cops, Jackson! We don't just kill people. We're supposed to bring justice--"
"Don't feed me that shit," Jackson spat. "Our justice only applies to humans. They don't deserve that decency."
"Enough arguing," Hoseok growled. "Step away from Jin. You're outnumbered, so you aren't getting out of this."
"Maybe not, but neither will you." Jackson moved quickly, turning his attention back to Hoseok and firing.
