Dangerous

"I really don't like this," Hoseok said, for about the sixth time that evening. Jimin had noticed he'd seemed restless since he had received a call from Namjoon that plans had changed after they'd found one of their officers dead that morning.

"I don't like it either, but the chief in Seoul made the decision, so there's nothing we can do about it," Jimin sighed.

Hoseok turned to him, frowning. "I can't just sit here while Jin-Hyung is getting ready to go face that bastard by himself. I need to go--"

"I'm under orders from Namjoon-Hyung to keep you here out of the way. It will be too dangerous for a civilian like you to get involved."

"And what does that mean for Jin?" Hoseok snapped. "If it's too dangerous for me, then it's too dangerous for him."

"There is going to be an entire police force protecting Seokjin, so he'll be safe," Jimin attempted to reassure the man. He understood why he was so stressed out. Honestly, he couldn't imagine being in Hoseok's shoes and still being as calm as he was. He knew Hoseok wanted to go with Seokjin when they tried to lure out his family's killer, but Jimin couldn't let him get involved. No matter how close he was to Seokjin, and how involved in the case he already was, he was still just a civilian.

"I can practically hear you thinking of ways of losing me so you can go to Seokjin," Jimin chuckled after several long minutes of silence as Hoseok stared out the hotel window into the street below.

"Caught me," Hoseok sighed, turning away from the window and taking a seat on the large bed. "I was going to make a run for it as soon as you left for the night."

"I know," he grinned, "which is why I'm not leaving you alone."

Hoseok's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "You're going to hold me hostage, Officer Park?" He asked with an amused smirk. "Are you going to handcuff me to the bed, too?"

"Maybe I should let you go get yourself killed," Jimin muttered, leaning against the wall furthest away from Hoseok. He was annoyed at the heat burning his ears, and he hoped the other man couldn't see it. He was already too smug about how easily he could get Jimin flustered.

The man snickered, leaning back on the bed and running a hand through his red hair. "Since we're stuck here together, and I'm not allowed to leave, distract me from worrying about Jin-Hyung. Tell me about yourself, Jimin."

"I don't think--"

"Don't tell me I'm just a civilian and you're a cop. We're passed that professionality now, Officer," Hoseok smirked. "So, talk."

"What do you want to know?" Jimin sighed, giving in. For some reason, he couldn't tell Hoseok no.

"What made you decide to become a cop?"

"I've wanted to be one ever since I was little," he shrugged. "My story isn't anything interesting. I went to a police academy in Seoul to get training, and I came back to Busan as soon as I graduated to get a job here."

"Why?"

"Why what?" He asked, meeting Hoseok's curious gaze.

"Why go all the way to Seoul to train, and then just come back here? Why not stay in Seoul?"

He shrugged again, feeling more heat grow in his ears and spread to his cheeks. "I just did."

Hoseok quirked an eyebrow. "You just did?"

"I was born and raised here," Jimin said, "so I wanted to protect the city I grew up in. It's cheesy, I know." He looked up when Hoseok groaned, falling back on the bed and throwing an arm over his face. "What?" Jimin asked, immediately bristling at the assumption the man was making fun of him.
