Chapter 6

Eleven's/ Jane's POV

After talking with my dad, I was not so sure about what Kali and Denise were planning the meet up for. The CIA had once opened the gate and Kali and Denise worked together with the numbers and I to close it again. Seems like a contrast of character. I took a few case files with me and drove back home. Mike came home shortly after I did.

"Hey El," Mike greeted me.

He kissed me on the cheek.

"How's work?", I asked him, while packing my clothes.

"Barely did any. Anyways, we're meeting Dustin, Will and Lucas at the airport later. Max will meet us in Virginia," Mike told me.

He put his bag on the bed and started packing too.

"Anything happened at work today?", he asked.

"No, just the usual. You know, Luke being nosy and the sheriff being the totally opposite."

"How about you?", I asked him back.

"Well, Dustin is complaining about her again. I feel bad for him. Why can't he just break up?"

"Because she's a crazy, controlling, manipulative bitch," I joked.

"How's Will doing?", I asked.

"He's quiet as usual. And single as usual."

"Do you think the numbers were also invited?", I asked.

"I think so. The email was rather vague."

Mike then noticed some files in my bag.

"New case?", he asked pointing at the files.

"I wish. Those are old files I got from my dad this morning," I told him.

"Files on the Upside Down? And Hawkins Lab?"

I nodded.

"I'll show them to you later," I promised him.

After a few hours, we met up with Dustin, Will and Lucas at the airport. We had dinner together and caught up. Sure, we were close friends but we didn't get to see each other often, outside of work.

"How's your dad doing?", Will asked me.

"He's doing well. He's enjoying his retirement. How's your mom?", I asked him back.

"She's good, thanks for asking."

"So, did SHE have anything to say about your appointment?", Mike asked Dustin.

"Yeah, she was kind of mad. But after I explained it was an emergency, she told me to call her everyday, and also to buy her something for Virginia," Dustin said.

"What's there to buy in Virginia anyway?", Lucas asked.

"Get her something from the CIA gift shop," Mike joked.

"Do they actually have a gift shop?", Will asked.

"They should have at least a limited edition goodie bags for guests," Lucas continued the joke.

"I don't know how she would feel if I actually bought a limited edition CIA item for her. Thats not the type of presents she likes anyways," Dustin said.

I felt the pain in Dustin's voice. He knows that he should pull out of this relationship but he can't. His girlfriend had threatened him several times before that she would kill herself if he broke up with her. And a couple of times, she had made her threats serious. Holding a knife to her wrist during fights, sitting at the edge of the window and threatening to jump and other crazy things. She was a serious psycho. And Dustin doesn't know what to do about it, except follow her orders and give in.
