Denise's POV

Once Kali was inside the building, Max and Lucas took one of the cars and drove it beside the entrance. I had talked to the security guard earlier and now he was under CIA orders. No one was allowed in or out of the building. If anyone forced their way in or out, its Max's and Lucas's job to stop them.

The cars had extra guns and ammunition in it in case anything goes wrong. The facility was larger than I thought. I had already split the other off into different directions, they secured different corners of the facility area. Lanie took the north side, Louise took the west side, Max and Lucas were on the south side already and I was on the east side with El. Our side was where the private research center of the lab was. I had higher suspicions that Gregory was going to show up on this side more than the others, but I didn't want to take any chances and make everyone wait on one side of the building.

"Five minute mark, everyone's at their posts," I said into the earpiece.

I looked at Eleven who had her eyes closed. She was trying to find Gregory and see how close he was. She opened her eyes a few seconds later.

"Any luck?", I asked her.

"No, he has blocked me," she said.

"Well, keep your eye in the sky," I said.

Today's weather was not any kinder to us. Not only was it summer but we had to wear body armour to prevent us from getting hurt, but it was also really hot.

"Try finding data on the Seattle Research Team in the private research center," I heard Mike said into the earpiece.

"Roger that," Sabrina said.

Sabrina's, Harry's, and Will's job was to gather any information on the Seattle Research Team and their experiments. We needed enough evidence against them to charge them for their illegal experiments and violation of human rights.

About 20 minutes later, we were still standing outside the building, in the parking lot. I was drowning in sweat amd El wasn't coping any better.

"Stakeouts are boring huh?", she said.

"Aren't you a cop?", I asked.

"Yeah but Hawkins is pretty uneventful, we never get to do anything like this," she said, sounding fascinated as well as really tired.

"Sounds like you're doing your job," I joked.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of buzzers from far away. It was soft, barely noticable but I heard it. Then, I was able to sense that people were coming. Not Gregory, but many others.

"We aren't alone," I said to El.

"What?", she asked.

Her face changed when she heard them to. As they got closer, I was able to feel their minds. I entered one of them. Wait, no.

I quickly brought my hand up to press the button on the earpiece.

"Kali, the Director is here," I nearly shouted into the earpiece.

Eleven gave me a nervous and frightened face.

"What?! How did he find out? Can you stir him away or something?", Kali said.

"No, they're too many of them. I won't have the energy to fight Gregory if I turn everyone of them around," I said, feeling multiple minds.

"Shit! What are we going to do?", I could hear the panic in Kali's voice.

I kept quiet for a few seconds. I had to explain myself at least to the Director. I had been lying to him the entire time. I had no choice anyways. I heard sirens in the distance. They've got cars too!
