Chapter 12

Denise's POV

While some of the others left, Kali lead them downstairs and out of the building, quite a few of them stayed with me in the meeting room. Namely, Sabrina, Harry, Lanie, Louise, Tyler and the Party.

"So you all want to help?", I asked.

"Yeah. You definitely need it. Plus, Kali said we could," Sabrina said.

I sighed.

"Okay, I'll tell you more about the case," I said.

I didn't really like working with people, and even at most, I worked with Kali. It was just more difficult to get everyone organised and on the same page. Plus now we will be working with untrained people, its going to make this case a little more difficult.

I told everyone in the room the extended part of the story, and told them about the organisation behind it and other details I had left out earlier.

"We are currently at a dead end. No names, faces or location," I said.

"Can't we use our powers to locate them?", El asked.

"We don't have any names or faces to go off of. Plus, I don't like using my powers when it comes to work," I said.

"But we have the name of the organisation. We can probably find someone in the Seattle Research Team using the void," El said.

"I guess we could try," I said, with a little bit of doubt.

"We'll wait for Kali to come back though," I said.

"We also found out there is a kid with powers," Sabrina said.

"What?", El asked in shock.

The others seemed surprised too.

"This is based on the theory that the Gate can only be opened using super natural forces, meaning only a person with powers can open the Gate. And that person managed to survive the blast and escape the building," I told them.

"We found security footage, but the recording was too blurry and we couldn't make up the face or gender of the child," Harry added in.

"And in addition to finding the organisation and shutting them down, we also have to find this child before he or she creates havoc and lets the world know about this case," I said.

Letting the world know that super humans exist through artificial, quite mentally damaging means was dangerous. If people knew that super powers like these existed, they would most definitely want to get their hands on that technology. It could be destructive and chaotic, and most importantly, the randomization of powers may cause unnecessary problems. People cannot even accept others of different races, how are they going to accept people with different powers or those without? 

"We have to keep this case private, only among ourselves. I have not informed anyone is the CIA about this, not even the director. So, we have to do this mission in private too. Make sure you do not tell anyone or attract any attention from anyone, especially from now on. Anyone could be watching us," I warned the others.

They all nodded, looking intimidated. We are the only ones who can stop the child and shut down the lab, while also keeping their intentions and discoveries a secret. The world just isn't ready for that type of power.

Once Kali came back, I explained Eleven's plan to find the Seattle Research Team.

"Yeah, let's do it," Kali said.

The Party backed away as Kali, Sabrina, Harry, Louise, Tyler, Eleven and I sat in a circle. We held each others hands and projected our minds and powers into the void. Once in the void, I let go of Eleven's hand and we walked in a straight line.
