Denise's POV

Eleven and I were staking out near Dustin's house the next morning. We landed recently in Hawkins. I was just taking a quick stop, then flying back in the afternoon.

I had told Eleven and the others about how I was going to arrest Gracie and gather enough evidence to charge her.

On the flight from Virginia to Seattle, I was emailing and calling her exes, or those who had been in a relationship with her previously. I had gather excerpts and evidence of her abusive history. However, that was not enough. That's why Eleven and I were outside Dustin's house.

We landed in Hawkins in the early morning. Dustin and I followed Eleven and Mike to their home so El could put down her stuff and change into her uniform. Mike also had things to do, like take the samples to their lab. We followed El to her police station where she called a few officers to follow her for the ambush.

"Dustin, just do what you were told. If anything happens, El and I will intervene," I told him before he stepped on his porch.

We were a few houses away from his home, out of sight from his girlfriend, in case she was watching. Dustin had texted her a few hours earlier that he was coming back so she should be expecting him. I had placed a mic on him so we could catch his speech.

"But what if she-"

"El and I will be on watch. You don't have to worry," I said.

He took a deep breath and exhaled. I took his hand, standing right in front of him. I looked up at him, and our foreheads touched.

"Everything will be okay, I promise," I told him.

He looked down and nodded. I let go of his hand and stepped back.

"Go, El and I will be watching," I reminded him one last time.

Then, he set off, walking toward his house. El, two other officers and I went by the back of the houses to his. Once Dustin rang the doorbell, then unlocked the door. We hopped over the fence of the backyard. I pulled out my mini video cameras and put one at the kitchen window, then moved and put another at the living room window. I peeked through that window and watched Dustin. Eleven was beside me, also watching closely.

"Good morning, Gracie," I heard Dustin say.

His mic was connected to my earpiece.

"Morning Dusty, welcome home," I heard Gracie reply.

It seemed normal so far.

"Where's my gift?", Gracie asked him.

She stood right in front of him, arms folded. I'll admit, she was pretty, and unassuming. She didn't look like the abusive type, but then again, what was the abusive type of look?

"Here you go, I bought it thinking of you," he said, holding up a small bag.

Inside, there was box with a necklace that Eleven let him borrow for this act. It was one she rarely wore, but could pass as something quite pricey. It was a thin sliver chain with a blue pendant that looked like a gem. Gracie took out the box and opened it and saw the necklace inside.

"Wow Dusty, how much did she cost?", Gracie asked, putting a hand on his shoulder while admiring the necklace.

He seemed clearly uncomfortable, and I was too watching this.

"About a hundred," he replied.

"What? That's too little! Tell me there's more," she said.

I cringed. I wanted this to stop but I couldn't. I needed to let this roll for a much longer time.
