The Director's POV
"Sir, we have another report," another one of the agents came bursting my office.
I have been keeping an eye on the reports from three days ago to today. Apparently, there was an increasing trend of supernatural activity happening across the country. Shops broken into and robbed by an invisible force, the sirens of cars in a few neighborhoods going off in the middle of the night for no particular reason and strange tracks in the national parks found by some park rangers.
"Where is it this time?", I asked as he entered.
"Denver, Colorado, there were similar occurrences. This time, a supermarket was robbed, some food flew out of the store and there are rumors that a young boy is responsible for this," he said, showing me the report on his laptop.
I was amused by the rumor.
"This time, there's video evidence," he said, turning the laptop around and opening the tab, showing me the video.
The video was shot from the parking lot of the supermarket. It showed a kid and his parents walking out of the store, then there was a young, rugged boy that entered the supermarket. The next second of footage was unbelievable. The glass windows of the store shattered and sirens went off. People were screaming and running out. Boxes of cereal and other food items flew out of the store through the broken glass. After the initial shock, everyone had cleared the building. The video stopped. I spotted something in the corner of the video a second before it ended.
"Go back a few seconds," I said him.
He moved his cursor over the timestamp a few seconds before the video ended.
I watched the scene unfold again, except I focused on that one spot the next time.
"Stop," I told him when I saw what I wanted to see.
He quickly pressed a button.
"What in the world?", I said out loud as I saw the image for myself.
It showed the same boy that went into the store, escaping from the side.
"Many other people picked up on that too. Police are said to be looking for the boy and the boxes of cereal, but it was like he vanished," he told me.
That can't be real. A boy like that can't responsible for all the destruction across the country.
Yesterday, I had connected the dots. I was receiving reports across Virginia about these strange occurrences. I didn't think much of it until these reports didn't stop coming in, and then it spread to Kentucky, then to Illinois the next day, then to Missouri, and across Kansas the next day. I knew something was causing all this to occur, but I was not sure if it was harmful. This was the most dangerous report I've gotten so far. Throughout all the previous reports, no one got hurt, nor was there any intent of harming the citizens. Right now, I was starting to rethink everything about this case. I was planning to ignore it and just let this past, leaving the investigating to the conspiracy theorists. After mapping out the areas where these occurrences happened, I was able to draw a line that went across America. Hopefully it would pass, I thought.
"Sir! Another case!", another agent shouted from my door, running in excitedly.
"What? Where is it now? Still in Colorado?", I asked raising my head from the laptop.
"No, in Casper, Wyoming," he said, showing the article.
"That's impossible. This report states that this happened in Colorado less than an hour ago," the other agent said, also looking at the report.
