Megans POV

I was talking to Abbie, sitting across from me at the metal table, about the case when all the sudden the lights go off. The windows with bars covering them cast a dark glow over everyone in a ghastly fog.

The first thing I look for is my gun. Crap, they took it up at the door when I came in here.

All the sudden I feel a presence behind me. Then, A rough, familiar voice whispers I'm my ear, "Move one inch and I'll slit your throat."

My breath hitches.

"Abbie?" I call out over the chaos.

"Yea I'm right here." Abbie calls back. I began to ask If she was okay when the person holding me hostage slides a thin blade onto my upper arm, forcing me to cry out.

"Megan?" Abbie yells obviously hearing my cry.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I've made myself clear. Don't move, Don't talk." My brow furrows as I fight back a smart remark.

"Shit." The voice whispers as I hear Abbie getting closer.

The shadow pulls a gun to the back of Abbie's head. "Woah come on now we can talk this ov-,"

"Listen to me, and listen closely. "Do not talk, just move."

Abbie and I do as the man says. We walk until he tells us to stop.

We go down four flights of stairs in the pitch black. I almost trip, a lot. The man then leads us down a hallway. The closet we got to our final destination the hotter it got.

"Is he throwing us into a volcano?" Abbie whispers into my ear.

"I thought I said shut it?" The voice told us. Abbie closed her mouth and kept walking.

The whole time we were walking, I tried to think of the owner of the voice, but just couldn't put my finger on it.

As I'm collecting all my thoughts our captor stops us. "Were here." He grumbles.

We stand in the middle of a room, the voice walks over and flickers on a light switch.

Immediately I was taken back.

It's the new chief.

*****

In short time the man has us handcuffed and standing on our knees in the middle of the room. I take a second to observe our surroundings, we're in the boiler room.

"How did I not see this coming." I thought out loud.

Another familiar voice chimes in, "simple, you are incompetent to me."

"Joycelyn, so nice to see you again!" the new chief said still pointing a gun to our heads.

Joycelyn walks over to us, her stride reminding me of Sasha's. She walks over to me and pats my cheek. I pull back. She laughs and brings her attention to Abbie. She scowls and looks at the new chief.

"Jeff, I told you only to bring Megan. I didn't ask for both."

"Wow, I feel unwanted." Abbie remarks.

"I had it all planned out. I would bring Megan down here, I would do as I please, and then I would leave you to get beat up and rot in prison." Joycelyn looks over at Abbie, kneeling down so they are now face to face.

"I can already see that prison is taking a toll on you." She outlines her lip and black eye with the delicate tip of a blade.

In return, Abbie spat in her face. She stands up wiping the spit off, then her commando boot collided with Abbie's stomach.

She starts laughing.

"I guess I know now why you and Sasha were friends." I say not hesitating.

"Oh? And why is that?"

"You two are both sadistic bitches."

Her scowl grew, and I tasted a bit of satisfactory. Soon her scowl fader and a smile grew. A wicked smile, full of revenge.

"Damn it." I mumble to myself only imaging what could happen next.

She starts to circle us like a hawk. Abbie and I don't say a word, to be honest we're fed up with all of this shit.

"Convict escapes and takes a visitor as hostage." She plays with my hair.

"Convict kills hostage then shoots herself. A story for the newspaper don't you think?"

I grind my teeth, I can see Abbie fiddling with her cuffs. She looked at me with desperation in her eyes. I drop my head. I have no plan, she has no plan. This is the first time we have ever had no plan for a situation.

I shake my head," well shit.".

"That's all you have to say? I'm going to torture you and your friend and all you say is shit?" Joycelyn starts to flip out.

All of the sudden a plan springs to mind.

"...yeah, shit. That's all I have to say about you, your stupid friend, and this situation. Shit. It's all shit. You," I stand to my full height getting off of my knees, Joycelyn not stopping me. "You are shit."

We are nose to nose, Joycelyn is fire red, and I feel like I should be given a prize. I look over at Abbie who stares in amazement.

Ok, I know I'm just the brains, but yes I can be feisty.

I give Joycelyn a satisfactory look. She stands appalled at the site of me. I guess our relationship hasn't changed.
