Hallucinations and morphine

Megan's POV

I walked down an unfamiliar sidewalk in New York with my purple lace dress coated in dirt and my shoes in my hand. My French braided hair had been left in tangles and winged eyeliner in ruins. "Damn this was a new dress too." I whisper to no one in particular. I swing open the door to the new bar Bottles and sat at the nearest booth.

I place my chin in the palm of my hand and thought over tonight's events.

My boyfriend was dealing drugs in the park. "What idiot deals drugs while dating a cop in training?" I thought to myself than shrug it off. I make a decision to drink my problems away.

I walk up to the shiny new bar and sat next to a man roughly my own age.

"One vodka please." I order and then pull out my purse to find money for the drink.

"Here let me pay for it. You must have had a rough night to need such a hardcore drink." The man next to me offered.

"I can handle myself thank you very much. Oh what could I have possibly have done to receive the honor of being in your humble presence?" I sarcastically retort, not really in the mood to be flirted with.

He smirks, "Drew Powell, officer in training."

I return the smirk, " Megan Jenson, ALSO officer in training."

He laughs, " Well Jenson, here's to justice of the law and broken relationships."

He clinks our drinks together.

I blink my eyes a couple of times to get used to the bright hospital light. I expect to see Abbie or my doctor to be at my side, but see none other than Drew himself.

"This morphine must be some some great stuff, because I must be hallucinating." I whistle.

He chuckles and then hops off of the dark green plastic chair he was sitting in.

"Nice to see you too Jenson." he says to me.

His blond hair was set in it's usual disheveled place, and his blue eyes wide. Tears sprang to my eyes as I remember this is a dream.

"This can't be happening, You died. Abbie and I have gone through hell and back to avenge you. "

His face laces with worry as I cry.

He never liked to see anyone cry.

"Jenson, this is you're dream. Change what you want."

"Sorry I guess I'm not used to having control over people in my dreams. God I hope you know we miss you." I laugh and wipe the tears away.

"I know." he whispers. "And I need you to leave this case alone."

Confusion washes over me as I see his face darkens.

"You two have always looked at me like I'm some sort of hero. I'm actually a-"

His image fades away as my eyes flutter shut once again. "

"CLEAR! Megan you have to wake up!"

Electricity surges through me and forces me to sit up straight to see the the worried faces of at least twenty nurses and doctors.

"Okay ouch. What the hell just happened?" I croak to no one in particular.

Dr. Lawson takes a small step towards me with a grim look.

"Your heart stopped mid surgery."

Wow way to be blunt about it.

"Well am I going to be okay?" I give him a pointed look to show my irritation.

He cleared his throat, " Well we need to take a few more tests, but now your vital signs are clear. This was a weird fluke of the heart and we are unsure how this could have happened. So for now, Welcome back to reality Ms. Jenson."

I sink back into my uncomfortable hospital bed to sink unconscious for what feels like the umpteenth time

With the disturbing view of Dr. Lawson grinning.
