Cole's POV*

We went to the movies, and I have to say, The Fault in Our Stars was not bad, but certainly not my type of movie. I only agreed because I thought Gabby would like it. I liked her from the moment I saw her. She was beautiful and smart and kind…..wow. I luckily sat next to her during the movie.

I heard whimpering coming from beside me and I looked past Gabby (who was silently tearing up), to see Will bawling more than anyone in the theatre. I nudged Gabby and pointed at Will. She giggled this adorable laugh, and we spent the rest of the movie silently making fun of Will without his knowledge.

When we left, it was dark outside. We walked around town, still teasing Will about crying so much.

"Hey! It's not my fault I'm the only one of you guys with a heart," Will said.

"I have a heart! I just don't cry in girl movies," Dalton replied. When we finally decided to head back to the house, I realized I needed to ask Gabby something.

"Hey, uh, Gabby?" I asked. She looked up, expectantly. "I just remembered that I wanted to ask- um, how old are you?"

"F-fourteen, I turn fifteen next week, on the 11th," she said.

"Wait, your birthday is next week?" Dalton asked. "Then we have to get you presents, and plan a party, and get a cake, and-"

"No, really, you don't have to do any of that," she said, cutting him off.

"But we have to!" Dana protested, the rest of us agreeing.

"Please, I really don't want you to," she said, walking to her bedroom. "Now, good night." And then she was gone.

I knew that I had to get Gabby something special for her birthday. I was awake half the night thinking about it. And then it hit me.
