The Boardwalk

It wasn't until halfway through August when anything extremely exiting happened. However, just because something is exciting, doesn't mean that it was enjoyable. Keep that in mind.

"Wanna go to the boardwalk? We haven't been all summer," Will suggested. After we all agreed, we got into Cole's car. He and I had been spending almost every night in the library together. That didn't mean we both read in the library, but I would read and he would take random pictures with my camera. When we got to the boardwalk, we walked over to the rides.

"Let's go on the ferris wheel," Dalton said to me. He grabbed my hand and dragged me over to the line, even though I was a little uncomfortable about circling in a metal crate fifty feet off of the safe, welcoming ground.

"Dalton, you know I don't like heights," I said, uncertainly.

He looked me in the eyes and I immediately fell in love all over again. "You'll be safe with me," he said.

"Okay," I said, melting over his beautiful, icy blue eyes. We got in and he reached for my hand. I held his tightly and we started to go up. I started to get scared, but Dalton whispered sweet quotes or lyrics or just little nothings into my ear, causing me to blush.

"Wow, look at the ocean. It's almost as beautiful as the girl sitting beside me," he commented.

"Thank you, Dalton. No guy I've ever known has ever said anything that sweet to me," I said, as he kissed me softly.

When we got off, Dalton went to go get some food, so I went to go play some games with Gabe. He wound up winning me a stuffed pig, which was so soft, and the most adorable thing I had ever seen.

"Hey! What is up?" Cole said, walking over. "Where's Dalton?"

"He went to go get food, so I'm hanging out with Gabriel," I said, smiling up at Gabe.

"Please don't call me that," he pleaded, laughingly.

"Now, Gabby. I hope you know that I am the champion of ring toss. But I'll try to go easy on you," Cole said, smirking.

"Please don't. Records were made to be broken," I replied. As it turned out, Cole was better at ring toss, but he did give me the goldfish, which I dropped causing it to die about ten seconds faster than its intended lifespan.

"Let's get something to eat. I'm staving," Gabe whined. We walked over to a stand and each bought a burger and a soda. "So, Gabby. How have you enjoyed your summer?"

"It's been great. I made a new best friend, the closest and greatest friends ever, and got a boyfriend. It's been amazing all because of you guys. Thanks." I smiled at the boys who grinned back at me.

"Just to be clear...that best friend is me, right?" Gabe asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, duh." We walked around and talked for awhile, then I spoke up. "I'm gonna go try to find Dalton, okay?"

"Yeah, that sounds good. I think we're going to start heading home soon. Meet us back here, okay?" Gabe replied

"Alright," I said, then walked back over to the area where the food trucks were. It took me a long time to find him, but I did. He was talking to a girl with bleached blonde hair, who looked about sixteen or seventeen. All of a sudden, he pinned her against the wall of the truck and started kissing her passionately. And that's when my world came crashing down, all around me.
