The dog with wings

On a beautiful day the sun was shining
From a place afar, you'd hear whining
Five little puppies had been born
To protect them all, their mom had sworn

A crowd soon gathered around the mother
But they saw a puppy like no other
Dogs stared in disdain, of all the things,
They didn't expect a puppy with wings

The puppy so lost, yipped and yapped
Just the same as his siblings had
The dogs chose not to listen to him
They only stared with eyes so grim

"He's still a dog" the Bulldog said
"What do you know? He's better off dead."
The Bulldog retracted, no more defensive
Though he deemed the Akbash offensive

Borzois and Hounds craved to scotch
Shibas and Coursers stood back to watch
Broholmers and Beagles only wept
Most others would've much rather slept

At brim of death, he couldn't stay
Bloodied and bruised, he flew away
For his acceptance the puppy had fought
But one with the dogs he was not
