Mia was standing in the middle of her room. Anxious spread through her body as she glanced at her screen while unknowingly biting her thumb.

It was so much harder than she thought it was going to be.

She was hesitant as she found herself gliding her thumb over the name on her screen over and over again but then withdrew it back as she was unsure of her choice.

Why would it be so hard?

It's just a phone call.

But she wasn't calling just anybody. No, that's why she was so nervous. What if he wouldn't answer or just ignore her call? Or... or be rude— but he was always rude so she wasn't expecting anything else.

Aiden drove her home after they went to his 'secret place'. The drive to her house was quiet— not because they didn't have anything to talk about but because Mia was afraid of what to say. Bringing up his sister shook him. She could see it, his eyes told her he was uncomfortable. Of course, she didn't understand why but she never questioned further.

She stepped out of his car, his eyes never leaving the steering wheel. She told him goodbye but he didn't respond. So she swallowed down the lump in her throat, questioning over and over in her head if she did something wrong, and close the door.

She was walking to her front door when Aiden suddenly called out her name. She grew nervous and turned around.

He held up her phone.

Mia blushed furiously and rushed to pick it up from his hand. Stupid!

She couldn't understand why or how Aiden had the time to put his number in her phone. But it was his name shining above the number. She wanted to ask why but was afraid he would regret doing that so decided against asking.

With a deep breath through her lungs, Mia quickly tapped on his name before she would regret her decision and pressed her phone to her ear. She heard the beep through the line and that's when she grew more anxious as her heart started to pound louder when she realized what she was getting herself into.

She was really going to do it.

She was going to tell what happened.

Just as she was thinking he wasn't going to pick up and withdraw her phone back, the person on the other line picked up and a gruff voice that was all familiar reached her ears, "who's this?"

Mia opened her mouth but closed it again. Wasn't he the one giving her his number? She couldn't find a way to speak or say what she wanted. It went a couple of seconds for her to finally find her voice, she was surprised he hadn't hung up yet. "H-Hi," Mia found herself squeaking out in a low tone before she cleared her throat, "it's-it's me... Mia," A breath of air flew out of her as she finally got those words out.

"Mia?" The deep manly voice on the other side inquired as a rustling noise sounded from the other line.

She smiled nervously as she felt the phone in her hand glide down since her hand started to become warm a while ago. "Yeah... um—" Mia rubbed the back of her neck, "I just- are you busy?" She found herself blurting out and then slapped her hand over her mouth for being so blunt.

Stupid!

He was probably busy, what did she really think? He won't have time for her and it would be the last thing he would have time for.

Stupid! Stupid!

He was probably going to think that she was a freak calling him so randomly and probably forgetting that he had given her his number.
