"Maddox! Maddox!" Mia was alarmed when she witnessed the loud quarrel just a few steps ahead of her and never did she believed it was her best friend in a fight her innocent eyes didn't wish to see. It broke her heart when she saw Maddox wrestling with another girl and it broke her soul more when she saw the person she was fighting with. It just had to be Ember. But Mia didn't have her focus there, her priority was only on her best friend, and wished that she wasn't hurt even though she knew that was impossible when knowing Maddox.

There were numerous people around this brutal battle, that were cheering and taunting words glid around the air like a cloud of molecules and she could feel the thick tension as she heard the intensity in everyone's tone.

It was difficult for Mia to get a glimpse of the scene due to the massive bodies that shield for her to behold. Heartbeat quickened as she stepped forward, her eyes widened and her hands were in a pool of sweat around her backpack straps. "Maddox," she called out again even though it was hard for even Mia to hear her voice on account of the massive noise in the wide hallway.

She was so caught up in her panic, Mia almost didn't notice Aiden turning around in the vast crowd, a gaze so fearless and unflinching he held even though he knew damn well what was going on a few feet away from him was anything but gentle.

Mia was ready to barge in because she couldn't just stand by and watch her best friend wrestling on the ground with another girl even though it looked like she was on her way to winning. She couldn't understand why Maddox received so sudden craziness to do this act in front of the whole school.

"Maddie," Mia ran into the crowd but got abruptly stopped when a familiar heavy strong arm shot up and wrapped around her front to stop her from barging in the mess. Mia choked on a cry as she struggled in the hold of the strong arm, her gaze couldn't rip from her best friend. She could feel his rock-hard chest against her back as she thrashed, trying to free herself from the diamond hold.

"L-Let me go," Mia pleaded as she was trying to swallow down her upcoming tears away. She wanted her best friend. She didn't like at all what she was seeing.

Without putting her attention to it, Lucas turned around from hearing the sound of her cries as he let his eyes move from a struggling Mia to a statue, nonmoving emotionless Aiden standing behind her, making it impossible for her to escape.

Lucas glanced at Aiden, signaling him with his gazes, "take her away from here. I got the rest."

A response from Aiden was only a stiff nod before he turned Mia around without putting any effort into it and lifted her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

Mia cried at the gesture, knowing that she'd never get close to Maddox enough as she was carried away from the crowd. She hit his back weakly as she repeatedly told him to let her go— but he never did.

"Please," Mia whined as she heard the heavy school doors open and a cold brief of air hit her skin, causing her to cry in her mind when she realized he had taken her outside.

She squirmed on his shoulder for the painful and strong grip he had wrapped around her legs.

She wanted to get down. She wanted to run back to Maddox.

With the last energy, she had left, Mia exclaimed, "let me go!"

And just like that, in split seconds, she was off of his shoulder and her back got in contact with a harsh surface that belonged to a tree.

The air got knocked out from her lungs at the touch, her eyes shot open as she saw a clenched-jaw-fuming-dark-eyed Aiden standing over her in his all muscular glory.
