Aga's POV
I know where Lea's anger earlier came from. She left showbiz just almost a year ago to focus on our family because she wanted to spend more time with us specially with our daughter.
But sadly, our daughter was the one who became busy with something else like school, hobbies, and bestfriend which I think are the reasons why Lea is wanting so much attention from her.
On the other hand, I also understand Claire. For fifteen years, her bestfriend is the only one who sticked by her side. They've been together during each other's downfall. They were inseperable. She has grown into a fine young lady without her mother's guidance because Lea always had to fly to New York and sometimes in London for her broadway projects.
This made Claire used to being with her bestfriend more than being with her mom. In fact, Claire got into an accident when she was twelve.
(Flashback)
"Baby, let's get inside already. I told you, she can't make it." I tried to convince her.
"No, dad. She promised. Mom is going home tonight. I'll wait for her. You may go inside na dad. I'm okay here." She answered full of hope. Sigh. I told Lea not to promise when she's not sure. Look at our daughter now.
"Anak, it's getting late. ---"
"Dad, please. I really want to wait for her here. Please?" Her eyes are almost begging. I can't resist it. If only I can do something to prevent her from feeling disappointed.
"Okay, baby. I'll just change my clothes then I will join you here. We'll wait for your mom together." She just smiles then I left her. When I got out from the bathroom, it was raining outside. I looked out of the window and found out that she's still there waiting. I immediately took an umbrella and get to her.
"Claire! It's raining! Get inside!"
"I'm okay, dad. It's still eleven. Birthday ko pa din po. I know, she can make it." This kid can be the most stubborn one sometimes.
"Mary Claire! Your mother is not going home tonight, not even tomorrow or this week! She can't still go home, okay?! You're just waiting for nothing! Could you please get inside now?!" I shout at her. She seemed shock. This is the first time I raised my voice to her. The snowball she's holding slipped off her hand. Good thing it did get broken though it's fragile. It's very precious to her since it was her mom's first ever gift to her. It rolled in the middle of the lane and she immediately ran to get it.
"Claire!!!" I screamed her name as the car bumped into her body. I was shocked for seconds then I ran to her.
"D-dad... Can't... Sh--she really m-make it?" She asked with tears. I can't help but cry as I saw the blood on her head and on her mouth.
"Baby, I'm sorry." She slowly closes her eyes. It caused me to panick.
"She promised." She whispered before her whole body fell.
(End of Flashback)
"Babes." She snapped her fingers on my face and I came back to my senses.
"Yes, babes? Tulog na ba ang baby naten?" She gives me a little smile.
"Yah. Babes, do you think I reacted too much earlier?"
"Do you want an honest answer?" She rolls her eyes off of me. Haha.
"Ghad, Aga! Of course I need an honest answer. What do you think???"
"Hahaha. Ampikon naman ng babes ko." I try to hug her but she moves away.
"Answer me first."
"A little?" She frowns.
"Medyo lang naman, babes. I'm sure our daughter understands." I could have said no instead. Sigh.
"I just want to make it up to her. It's almost a year but our relationship is still the same."
"Babes, she's still adjusting. She's still not used to this setup: you staying home. For fourteen years, you barely stay in the Philippines. You see, our daughter is trying. She's sweet to you just as she is to me." She's close to crying. It's hard for me to choose which word to use to make her feel lighter. I don't want to hurt her feelings.
"Do you think we'll ever be okay?"
"Of course, babes. She's just like you. Konting lambing lang yan, bibigay din." With that, I just recieved a glare from her.
