Dawn's POV
"By the way, I'll go home late tonight po."
"And why is that, young lady?" I put down the fork I'm holding as I heard Richard sternly asks our daughter.
"Mag-oover time po kasi ako."
"Napapadalas yata yang pag-oover time mo Gabrielle?"
"Dad, you see, we're starting the project. Everyone is so hands on dahil deadline is coming."
"If it's that's so, pumayag ka ng magkapersonal bodyguard. Madaling araw ka na nakaka-uwe, babae ka pa naman. Iba na ang panahon ngayon."
"Still, no, dad. I told you, I can handle myself. Tsaka, hindi naman po ako nagko-commute. I have my car."
"Hindi mo parin masasabe ang disgrasya, Gabrielle."
"Dad naman e. Hindi na po ako bata."
"That's not even a reason."
"That's enough. We're in front of the food." I butt in before they start a fight.
"Sorry." They apologize in unison and went back in eating.
"Chard, malaki na ang anak mo. She's just trying to be somehow independent. Plus, alam mo naman na head engineer yan sa project nila kaya siguradong maraming dapat gawin yan." Gab smiles at me and Richard frowns on the contrary.
"Pero, Gab, make sure you can handle your self talaga. Kapag may nangyari sayo, ipapahatid sundo kita diyan sa daddy mo."
"Yes, mom."
After we had our breakfast, both Gab and Chard headed to work already. So, I decided to invite Vice since today is his day off.
Gab's POV
It's been a month since Daniel and I started to go out. The truth is, I go straight to him after work that is why I always go home late. I do not always have overtime.
We started to go to places he said I used to go to and do the things I used to do. But until now, I still do not know who he is to me. He hesitates to tell me. He said he wants me to remember him by myself.
"Here." Daniel hands me a cup of coffee.
We are here in an orphanage he said we used to visit often when we were on high school.
"Thank you." I accept it then he sat beside me.
"Daniel?" I call him while looking at the sky full of stars.
"Hm?"
"I heard lots of stories from you about my high school friends, my family, my cousins... but I never heard our story." I looked at him and he gulped before looking at me.
"What was our story back then, Daniel? I really want to know. Maybe that way, I would remember you."
"This isn't the right time for that, Gabby. I'm sorry. I'll tell you when I know you're ready for it."
"How would you know I'm ready?" He looked back at the sky.
"I don't know. But I would feel it." His eyes are very sad. No matter how wide the smile he manages to show me, I know he's hurting.
"I'm sorry." He looked at me with a smile.
"Hey." He brushed his fingers on my face. That's when I realized I am already crying.
"Sorry." I apologize and wipe my tears and sniff it away. I sip my coffee. The wind is getting a little colder in here.
"Why do you keep apologizing when you know you're not at fault?" This is the nth time he asked me that.
