Secrets Completed

Chapter 4

The fireworks has stopped.
Everyone is still not saying a word.
Lucas, Riley, Farkle, Smackle and Zay are looking at Maya while they wait for the news to sink in.
"Kidney disease?" comes out of Lucas' mouth and Maya breaths.
"How long have you known?" Farkle asks and I take a deep breath.
"Since I was fourteen. The doctors think it was developed when I was thirteen," Maya said and Riley is a little confused.
"Josh found out on Christmas day and told me he'll give me until New Years Eve and..."
Maya stops talking and the tears run in streams down her face.
She runs into the apartment and takes a breath.
She heads into her room and try to calm down.
What is she going to do?

Maya run past Cory and Topanga but neither say a word.
Topanga stands up and stops in the hall.
She can hear Maya crying and try to calm down first.
"What is wrong?" Cory asks and Riley comes in from the door.
"Riley what is happening? What is wrong with Maya?" Topanga asks.
Riley pulled out her phone and looked at her mom.
"My uncle is going to have to please explain but first comes Maya."
Riley quickly pushes on Josh's name and he answers.
"Hi Riley," Josh says not knowing what the phone call is about.
"We know about Maya," Riley says and Josh knows what she is talking about.
"I'm on my way."
Right after Josh hang up Riley just didn't know what to tell her parents.
"He's coming," Riley said and Cory walks over to her.
"What are we going to do?" Cory asks.
"I don't..."
Topanga didn't give Riley enough time to finishm
"What is going on with Maya?" Topanga asks.
"She has a kidney disease for almost three years. Josh knew and gave her until tonight. He is on his way," Riley said.
"Why don't you go get Maya?" Topanga said and Riley went to Maya.

Mya is laying with her back to the door.
She wasn't looking forward to seeing anyone yet she heard the door.

"Maya can you please come in front?" Riley asked and Maya took a breath.
"Okay," Maya said and Riley went out the door.
"She's coming," Riley said and Maya appeared.
"Honey. I'm so sorry," Topanga said and Maya nodded.
"Where is..."
Maya wanted to ask but Riley answered her question before.
"Went home. It's just us," Riley said and Maya sat down.
"I think you need some tea," Topanga said and there was a knock on the door.
"You called your uncle?" Maya said and Riley looked at her.
"Already know. It's open Josh," Riley said and Josh came in.
He didn't bother asking what is wrong.
He knows.
"Can I talk to Maya alone?" Josh asks and Riley looks at her dad.
"Sure," Riley said and they went to Maya's room where she is staying.
Josh closed the door and waited for Maya to say something.
"You okay?" Josh asked after awhile.
"They know," Maya said.
"I know. How are you feeling?" Josh asked and tears come streaming out of Maya's eyes.
"Maya. Come here," Josh said and pulled her in close.
"Everything is going to be okay. I promise you," Josh said.
"No it isn't."
Josh knew that it wasn't going to help Maya hearing that.
"Hey. You will get through this. We all are here to help you," Josh says and rubs May's back.
"Just take a deep breath, okay?" Josh said trying to calm her down.
"Okay," Maya breathed out.
"Why don't you try and get some sleep?" Josh said.
Maya climbed into bed and Josh threw a blanket over her.
"There you go."

In the mean while everyone is trying to make sense of this whole thing.

"I can't believe she hided it from us," Riley said then Josh came out.
"Riley don't start."
"Why did she keep quite?" Cory asked Josh.
"Because she is scared Cory. She must go on machines. She is scared to hell. She didn't expect her life to be like this," Josh said and everyone sat down.

"How did you know why I called you?" Cory asked.
"Just a guess. A good one too," Josh said.
"She knew it was you at the door," Riley said.
"I think she knows a lot more than we presume," Josh said.

"She asleep?" Topanga asked.
"Yeah. I suggest you let her rest. It is going to take awhile to get used to it. In the mean time I suggest you do research about kidney diseases. She will need all your support," Josh said and Riley rolled her eyes.
"I know. But how can we help her?" Riley asked.
"As best as you can Riley. She just needs to know that we want to help," Josh said.
"Thanks for coming out," Cory said.

The next morning everyone was still asleep but Riley was awake.
She didn't know what to do with Maya and neither did Josh.
Riley was busy brushing her hair when Maya woke up.

"Morning. How did you sleep?" Riley asked as soon as she saw Maya.
"Fine," Maya said and put her hand in front of her mouth.
"Maya."
"I'm fine. I just..."

Before she could finish her sentence Josh came in.

"Hey. Everything okay?" Josh asked.
"Nauseas is a side effect of the meds that I am on," Maya said.
"I'll give you guys a second," Riley said and went out.

"Slept okay?" Josh asked and sat down next to Maya.
"Yeah," Maya said and sat up straight.

She was still through the sleep but she didn't look too great.

"How are you feeling now?" Josh asked and put his hand on Maya's back.
"Just hope no one will treat me differently," Maya said as a tear escaped.
"If so, I'll always be there," Josh said.
"Thank you Josh. I'm really scared of what my friends are going to think," Maya said as her voice was breaking.
"Don't be. They will support you no matter what," Josh said.
"And if they don't?" Maya asked.
"Then I am here for you. Okay. You're not alone I promise you."
"They just..." Maya said as tears were now running over her face.
"Hey. Come here," Josh said and pulled her close.

He knew Maya was going through a lot right now and all she needs right now is to relax.
She needs to know that people are there when she need them.
She needs to know that he is there.
But that will be really hard as she thinks nobody understands.
