CHAPTER FOURTEEN: REALITY

3rd Person's Point Of View.

"Nice to see you again, Sir. I hope your lovely lady is now fine." Soonyoung greeted with a smile as soon as Jihoon entered the building.

After a few days off, his girlfriend's parents insisted that he should go work or go home. Jihoon agreed as he never left the girl's side ever since they arrived, thinking that they might want some alone time with their child. He left, not forgetting about his goodbye kisses for his girl.

"She's.. fine." He answered. "It's nice to see you, too, Soonyoung."

His father did a great job. His father had found new investors, mostly his father's friends. Accepting help wasn't too bad. At first he felt like his pride and ego were being crushed, but the company isn't about that, it's about their business going well, making sure that your employees get what they deserve--just thinking about so many lives depending on this company made Jihoon felt so stupid for not realizing how selfish he was before.

No wonder why many wanted to resign.

"Believe it or not, the Kang Enterprise had signed the contract with your father. Maybe Mr. Lee is a smooth talker."

"That's good to hear."

Kang Sanbi

He never heard of her after their talk. She never visited the hospital but has called his girl a few times. But they never had a conversation after that.

What made her sign the contract?

Whatever it is, he was still thankful.

The both of them entered the office, hearing greetings from here and there. "I see employees are back." Jihoon mumbles to himself.

Like the usual, his office wasn't exactly clean nor dirty. The floor was spotless but the tables were filled with papers and objects. His table was one or the messiest, having stacks of papers in folders almost making a protective wall for his small body, his laptop was also there along with a lamp that he usually use.

His father was seated near Jihoon's table. He seemed to be too occupied with a document that he didn't even notice his son enter. "Dad." Jihoon called, letting his father know he was there.

"Oh, Jihoon. Good to see you again." He stood up, still holding the paper he was once reading before Jihoon interrupted, then walked towards his son. "I found something interesting."

Jihoon assumed that his father was talking about the paper he was reading. "What's that?"

"A letter from your mother."

"From mom?"

Immediately, Jihoon snatched the letter from the older man's grasp as he began to trail his eyes to his mother's admirable handwriting. Mrs. Lee, her mom, wasn't a fan of emails as she doesn't even know how to use phones nor laptops. She was a housewife while Jihoon and his dad are business men. Mr. Lee, Jihoon's father, has been away from his wife for a few days because of Jihoon's hiatus. But surely, when everything is stable, he'll return to his wife's arms.

Lee Jihoon's eyes were set on the letter while Mr. Lee just released a sigh.

"So, you're planning something?"

_____

Warm.

She felt warm as Jihoon's arms were around her.

"No~" The boy whined when she tried to move away.

She chuckled. "What's wrong with you? You're being such a baby."

"I'm your baby and you have to deal with it."

Their bodies stayed against each other. It wasn't something Jihoon was new to do but it wasn't something she got used to. She can still feel her intestines twist more than how twisted they are already.

It feels nice.

"I love you.." Jihoon said.

And like a robot programmed to do so, she replied with an: "I love you, too."

Their love wasn't perfect, but Jihoon would give his whole life to make it last. It's just too bad that no matter how much they will try, none of this will last forever. Today, tomorrow, the next day. Nobody knows. Maybe Jihoon will wake up to his love already drifting away.

It was the sad reality that Jihoon is having a hard time on accepting.
