Chapter 21

-- quick note! I won't be able to upload tomorrow since I'll be at a friend's. I don't know why, but I seem to be uploading at 2-3 in the morning every day. Since I'll be occupied, I won't be able to do it tomorrow :)

* Jeff's POV *

I'm on my MacBook looking for places that could be a good option to have a date. This place needs to be something that's not fancy. I want it to be a fun chill night. I don't want to watch a movie and have dinner. That is a basic route to go for a date. I call Todd as my last route.

" Hey, man. What's up? " Todd greets

" So I'm trying to figure out where to go on me and Aspyn's date. I need some help "

" What's like the theme you're going for? '' he asks

" Not fancy. Fun. Casual " 

" Why don't you go to the Santa Monica pier? It's basic but it can be fun. I also thought about Disneyland but maybe the Santa Monica pier is better for now. "

" Oh okay, cool. I'll take your word on this. If it ain't fun for her, I'm killing you " I jokingly threaten.

" It's fineeeee. Keep her interested and you're good," he advised me. " Look, I gotta go. But good luck and don't be insensitive or a douchebag. "

" Hey! I can't help it. " I say in defense. 

" Well, you're gonna need to put that to the side buddy if you want to get a real chance with her" he points back. 

" You're right. BYE " 

I look to see if there are any other places we could go to. 

My phone dings right next to me and I see a message from her. 

from Aspyn: Sooo, change of plans, turns out that I'm free tomorrow:)

I wait a couple of minutes before I text her back so that it doesn't seem like I was just sitting and staring at my phone screen waiting for her text. It kind of amazes me that I'm texting her back so quickly. I usually take forever to text my friends back. But for some reason, I've just been texting back Aspyn a lot faster. 

I make the final decision to just go to the Santa Monica Pier. This way we can just take a chill walk on the beach after we're done. The night is supposed to have some light winds so the weather should be perfect. 

I text her back

Me: Sweet! Can you do tomorrow at 8? It's nothing fancy. It's a casual place so don't get too dressed up. 

Aspyn: Yes, see you then :)

Jeff: Can't wait for it, babe :P

I need to stop calling her babe. It's probably best to stop until we actually begin to start dating. I need to keep that in mind when we're out. 

I need to clean up my place if she wants to come over afterward. I'm on my way to David's since he's invited everyone over for game night and he's gonna be vlogging so he needs content.

I lay my head down on my couch and stare at the ceiling. I start to reminisce about me and Cierra's good times. I go on my phone and click on the Instagram app. I breathe out a sigh if I really want to do this. I let the pads of my thumbs hit the keyboard and type in her name. I scroll through her page and she looks so happy. I am happy that she's moved on and that she's doing well in her life. I scroll further down into her page and I start to see the old photos that she posted of us. I missed it. But I need to stop looking back. I pull myself out of my thoughts and got up.

I go to take a shower before I head over there because this is probably gonna last till 3 am. I also took Nerf out for a walk to get him to use the bathroom and do his business. 

After I did that, I got in my car and went to David's. I walk up to his house and just head to the backyard since that's where everyone was at. 

Carly and Erin were playing ping-pong, Scott and Todd were in the corner strumming their guitars, Joe and Mike were talking, Zane, Matt, and Heath are together talking. Chill and laid back music was being played. People were doing their own thing and of course, there was Jason and David vlogging. I join in with Carly and Erin at the ping pong table and took Carly's spot. 

As the game started to intensify, everyone started to crowd around us and take turns. David tells us to gather together.

" I'm making a deal with you guys " he started. 

" OH, here we go again " Zane remarks shaking his head.

" Two people will play against each other for each round. The person who won that round will play the next person who won and so on. Then at the end, all the winners will play against each other to see who is the last remaining one.  Whoever is the last to win the game, I'll give that person $5,000! " David finished and everyone starts to cheer. 

"I'm so gonna kill you "

" You're gonna die"

" I'm gonna make that kaching kaching " 

" Back off hunty, I'm coming for you "

Everyone is threatening each other that their gonna beat the person's a**. 

Natalie walks to us to see what's going on. She just looks likes she's not shocked that David is giving away money. Again. I'm not either, but I wouldn't be getting any money if it weren't for David's irrational deals. She goes to the corner and lays on the lounge chair as she gets on her phone. While everyone was by the table, I wanted to approach her but not just yet. I won the round so I passed the racket to the next person. I walk up to Natalie.

" Hey, so I'm sure you know that I have a date with Aspyn. I was wondering that since you're her best friend, you could tell me how she is and what she likes? " I kindly asked

She puts her phone down to talk to me.

" Uh sure. I don't know what you already know so I'm just gonna wing it" I nod for her to continue on.

" Aspyn is really emotional. Even though she may be all tough and strong on the outside, the little things can sometimes get to her. She's really easy to please. You can give her a flower and she'd be happy. Oh gosh, food. If you bring her food, she'd love you forever. You can't really get on her bad side unless you've done something really terrible to her" she taps on her chin to think of other things to say.

" She's kind, loyal, compassionate, ambitious, and really easy to love. She doesn't play games and she's ready to commit. Yeah, I think that's everything you need to know " she shrugs and nods as if she's satisfied with what she just told me. 

" But I swear to god, if you make her cry or hurt her in any way, physically, mentally, emotionally or whatever.  I will kill you and make you pay for it. " she narrows her eyes at me and stares me down. " I'm gonna make you regret that you hurt her "

" Okay, okay " I held up my hands " Geez, Nat. Who knew you could be scary and pretty at the same time? "

" This only comes out if you hurt someone I love " she adjusted her laying position and inspected her nails. 

" Okay, I get it! Anyways, thanks " she nodded. She grabbed onto my leg as I was walking away since she was laying down.

 " Just letting you know, she's about to be here " 

I give her a thanks for giving me a heads up. I go inside David's house to grab a slice of pizza and water. Then I go back outside to watch everyone else play and wait for my turn.
