"You can get dressed and sign out with the nurse outside the door. You are good to go, mister Joseph." The doctor shook my good hand, "If you need anything or there's any new pain, just call."
"Thank you." I watched him leave and Jenna helped me get my clothes on. I was starting to hurt a little more because my morphine was wearing off. We signed out and left the hospital after collecting my phone and wallet.
"So you ready to go home?" Jenna asked.
"Well we need to get snacks for this movie marathon now." I smiled at her as I opened the car door and sat down. A panic filled me when I closed the door behind me, making my breath hitch.
"You're okay, Ty. It's alright." Jenna grabbed my hand as she started the car, "Nice and slow." She pulled out of the parking garage and started slowly driving down the street. Not super slow, but slower than the speed limit. "Are you sure you want to stop by the store?"
"Yeah. I'm fine."
"Okay." She kissed my hand, "I'll run in real quick, you stay here."
"Okay."
________"Movie number three," Jenna smiled, "Check. What do you say, we go to bed then watch the next one in the morning?"
"Sounds good to me, baby." I was laying on the air mattress under the tent Jenna had set up.
"Okay." She turned out the lights and laid beside me, "I love you, sweet. I'm so glad you're okay."
"I love you too."
I fell asleep quickly, snuggling my wife.
I woke up to Jenna rolling off the mattress with her hand over her mouth, "You okay, love?" I looked up at her.
"Yeah, just morning sickness, it'll pass." She sat there for a second, "I'll be back." She got up and walked to the bathroom. She got sick a lot more during the first few weeks, but every once in awhile she would get sick again.
I sat up slowly and painfully, my arm still held close to my chest by the strap around the sling. My muscles were stiff and sore, but my leg was the most sore, you know that feeling when you get a deep cut and anything the touch it hurts like hell? Yeah, that was the feeling. I got up eventually and stumbled to the bathroom where Jenna was. She was brushing her teeth with her hair now up in a messy bun. I joined her at the other sink.
After we were both ready for our morning I walked over to her. I hugged her from behind and my arm traveled down to her stomach, "Our little family."
"I love our little family." She turned her head and kissed my cheek.
"Should we watch more movies before Josh gets home tonight?"
"Yeah." She smiled.
We spent the day watching the rest of the movies. When the last one had ended I heard keys jiggle in the door, Jim got up and ran to meet his owner. "Mom, dad, I'm home."
"Son!" Jenna cheered.
"I brought home my girlfriend too." I could feel his smirk.
Debby and Josh walked into the room as I made my comment, "Joshua Joseph, did you say girlfriend?"
"Yeah." He smiled at Debby then took their bags back to his room.
"How are you doing Tyler? I heard about the accident." Debby sat on the couch next to the air mattress I was sitting crisscrossed on.
"I'm here, and that, I am thankful for."
"Me too." Josh came around the corner, "So the guy was texting and driving?"
