One week later

"Tyler?" Jenna woke me up in the middle of the night.

"Yes, love?"

"Would you get me a glass of water? I can't tell if i'm having real contractions or Braxton Hicks."

"Yeah of course." I quickly got up, part of me hoped that they were real, that the water wouldn't stop or lighten them. I took it back to her and she drank it fairly quickly. After a couple minutes I looked up at her, "So?"

"I haven't had any more yet." She frowned a little at me.

"Darn it. I was hoping this would be it." I put my arm around her.

"Oh wait." She sat up a little, "It's not Braxton Hicks, Tyler." She winced as another contraction started.

"Hey, hey, hey, breath." I rubbed circles on her back. When the contraction was over I wrote down what time it was, then wrote down the next one, and the next one.

"How much time in between them?" Jenna sat back again.

"Twenty minutes."

"That's not short enough. I'm going to try to get back to sleep. You should too. I'll write down the times if I wake up during any of the other ones."

"Okay, love." I switched off the lamp beside my bed and tried to fall back asleep.
___________

I woke up to Jenna sitting on the side of the bed, "Did you ever fall back asleep, love?"

"Yeah, but only for about an hour total. I kept waking up." She sounded exhausted, I know this is taking a toll on her.

"Do you need anything?" I got up and rubbed her shoulders gently.

"For you to stay right there." She giggled.

"As you wish." I smiled we sat there for a few minutes before Jenna got up to go to the bathroom. I rolled out of bed and got a bottle of water for her and updated Josh on the situation from the living room.

"Really? Do you think she'll come soon?" He asked hopefully.

"I hope so. Jenna is so uncomfortable."

"I can tell."

I continued my walk back to the bedroom and saw Jenna writing on the paper that she was tracking contractions on. "Still about twenty minutes apart." I handed her the bottle. "I could end up having contractions like this until her due date."

"I know. I just hope she comes sooner than that. I don't like seeing you in pain. Also I would love to have her home for Christmas."

"It would be a blessing for sure."

"I'm going outside to call Doctor Eves. See what she has to recommend." I grabbed my phone and a sweatshirt to throw on before stepping out in the cold air. I dialed the number I had saved in my phone and waited for her to answer.

"Hello?" I heard the women's gentle voice.

"Doctor Eves. Hi, it's Tyler Joseph."

"Oh! Hi Mr. Joseph, what can I do for you?"

"Jenna is having contractions constantly. About twenty minutes apart, lasting thirty seconds to a minute. What should our next steps be?"

"That's so exciting. Knowing Jenna, and a lot pregnant women with the same body type and health as Jenna, the baby could very easily be ready to come out. I would recommend trying to get her to drink plenty of water, try to get her to eat. You'll be able to tell it's getting serious when she stops wanting to eat at regular times which could be anytime now."

"Yeah now that I think about it, she didn't want to eat dinner last night. She said she didn't feel hungry."

"That's completely normal. Try to get something in her system because when her contractions have less time in between them and start getting more painful, she could get sick, but she will need energy for delivering a baby. You could go for walks together, just around the house a few times, do some squats, she may not like the idea right now, but having sex could make the baby come quicker. If she is hungry, try to get her to eat spicy foods, it'll also help. Simple things really. You may be able to find other things in some of her pregnancy books."

"Thank you so much." I tried to retain all the information.

"No problem. I'll be in touch." I hung up the phone and looked around. The trees were bare and the sky was grey. I blew onto my hands to try to warm them up. I walked back inside to see Josh beside Jenna in our room.

"So I called Doctor Eves and she gave me plenty of things to do. Do you want something to eat?"

"Not really," Jenna shook her head, "but if it'll help the baby come then sure."

"Okay. What about some Chinese food? You love Chinese these days. Something spicy."

"Sure." Jenna smiled a little, "Sounds good."

"I'll run out and get it if you want. Josh can stay with you, or Josh if you'd rather go you can."

"It's up to you, dude. I'll do whatever."

"Alright, Jenna?" I turned to the woman in charge.

"You go. Josh and I will stay here."

"Sounds good." I picked up my wallet and gave my wife a kiss, "I'll be back. You guys walk a few laps around the house while I'm gone." I peaked back in the room, "Unless you want to rest, then rest."

"Love you, Ty." Jenna smiled.

"Love you too. Be right back." I locked the door behind me and drive to the Chinese restaurant in our little town.

I called in the food so it was ready when I got there. I payed then headed back home. "Alright, I got something for everyone." I called from the kitchen while the two made their way in the room. Jenna holding tightly to Josh's arm until he got her to a seat. We passed out the food and began eating.

"That was actually really good. Good call, Ty." Jenna stood up carefully then held on to the counter as she walked to the trash can. "I'm going to walk around a bit then go lay down."

"Sounds good momma. I'll be in there in a second." I grinned and Josh helped me put everything away. "What's Debby doing today?"

"She is hanging out with her brother. He came to town for a couple days so they are catching up."

"Well that's exciting."

"Yeah. I think she might come over this evening or tomorrow, it depends on when they finish whatever they are doing."

"Sounds fun."

"For sure. I'm going up to the gym for a bit. Do you guys need anything while I'm out?"

"I think we are good, I'll ask Jenna just in case." I made my way to Jenna. "Josh is going out, do you need anything?"

"No, I'm okay." She looked up at me.

"Okay." I flashed a smile then told Josh. I went back to Jenna, "Do you need me to stay back here?"

"No, sweet. I'm okay. I think I'm going to try to take a nap."

"Okay, tell me if you need anything." I went into the studio and started working on new music. I spun around in my desk chair a few times before facing my desk. "Inspiration." I pulled the ultrasound picture of my princess off the wall and set it beside me, "A song for you. Here we go."
