Sammy's POV

Claire's been home from the hospital for about three weeks now. She's moving around just fine except with stairs. She says her leg doesn't hurt as much as her wound in her stomach does. The doctors gave us a wheelchair to use for her when she leaves the house but she won't go anywhere.

Claire won't admit it, but she's deathly afraid of Tyler again. The police haven't caught him which means he's somewhere hiding. I don't care what it takes, I plan on proving to Claire that she's safe with me.

I've been living with her and Scott since I flew out from Omaha, and Nate's been living with Emma who have been staying in the Guest House in Claire's yard, where I stayed the first time I flew out here. Claire can't sleep unless I stay with her.

I worry about her more now than I ever have. Her nightmares get really bad, to the point of her screaming and crying; she wakes up struggling to catch her breath.

Tonight, no matter what it takes, I was going to take Claire out.

"Baby, you awake?"

"I am now, Sammy," she let out a little giggle.

"Let's go for a drive. I won't keep you out long. I just think you need some air; more air than the patio. It's a beautiful day, and the sun is about to set. It'll be beautiful. Please let me take you," I got off the bed and headed to her side. I got on both of my knees, and clasped my hands together, curling my bottom lip into a "puppy dog" look.

"Sammy, I swear to god..." She started to smile.

"Is that a yes?"

"I guess, but not out for long. Only for sunset. I wanna be back home by dark."

"I promise, babe. Do you want to shower before getting ready or do you want me to just go ahead and get your clothes ready?"

"I'll get my clothes. You, on the other hand, please go shower. You smell like boy after you play basketball with Scott and it's disgusting!" she scrunched her nose, trying not to laugh.

I kissed her forehead, "I love you."

"I love you too, now please get your shower. Your stench keeps getting worse."
