Claire's POV

I had no idea what Sam had in mind. A "drive" could mean anything, especially since he put my wheelchair in the trunk of his rental car. I don't know how I feel about leaving the house. Tyler could be anywhere; he could be hiding, stalking us to make sure I die this time.

"Ready?" Sammy's voice interrupted my thoughts before my anxiety kicked in completely.

I nodded, as he helped walk me to the car and set me inside the passenger seat. He got in, hooking his phone up to the radio.

Kiss me by Ed Sheeran came on first.

I looked over to see him smiling as he grabbed my hand without looking.

"This is the song we danced to."

"The song we danced to the night we met, in the gazebo as part of our first date," he smiled wider as the words left his lips.

He remembered.

We pulled into a parking lot. It looked familiar but it was hard to tell.

He came around and opened my car door, moving my legs to dangle out the doorway. He set his hands on both sides of my hips.

"So you have three options: piggyback, bridal style, or your wheelchair?" His smile was radiating.

"Piggyback will probably hurt less. Who needs the wheelchair anyway?" I had to be honest.

He smiled as he helped me out of the car and crouched so I could climb onto his back.

As we got farther into the walk, I noticed something in the distance. I saw little lights and I heard running water.

I knew exactly where we were.

He set me down as I took in our surroundings.

"Sammy, I can't believe this."

Sammy's POV

"Sammy, I can't believe this," Her smile was astonishing; it sent shivers through my body.

The cave was decorated with those Christmas lights you usually hang on your tree and blankets on the ground to watch the sunset like we did once before.

"You've had a rough few weeks, babe. I felt you deserved this. I had to make it a surprise or else you wouldn't let me take you here. What's more special than the place I finally had the guts to make you mine?" I felt her tense up as I wrapped my arms around her waist. She quickly relaxed as her hands hooked to my biceps.

"I love you, Sammy."

"I love you, Claire."

I connected her lips to mine, feeling the same sparks I felt the first time I kissed her. I kissed her gently, scared to break her fragile figure. I felt her smiling into the kiss, making me break our lips apart, smiling back. Our foreheads touching, our bodies coming closer, she connected our lips back, gently at first then suddenly very passionate.

My hand slipped from her waist to under her shirt, caressing her newly forming scar carefully. We broke the kiss, looking into her eyes. I've never seen her more scared than she was at this moment.

"This? You're never gonna have anything like these from me. I swear to you."

She winced as I moved my hand over it a bit, taking that as a sign to move my back back to her hip.

I kissed her forehead, pulling her in as close as possible, remembering how different things were the night I brought her here last.

I never knew what it was like to only want one girl until I met Claire.
