Sammy's POV

Watching Claire leave for the airport was the most heart wrenching sight knowing I'm the reason she's leaving.

I stayed home while Nate and Emma actually took her. I had so much alcohol stashed away in my closet.

Fuck it.

I ran upstairs and opened the door to what looked like a year's supply. I sat on the floor, contemplating taking the pain away, or causing Claire more pain if Emma and Nate came back to a drunken asshole and told her.

Fuck it. If Claire won't stay to let me prove that I can stop drinking, then I'm just gonna prove to her.

I grabbed every bottle I could and put it in an empty gym bag. I carried it to the kitchen as I poured every single ounce down the drain, fighting the urge to let it seep into my bloodstream and numb the throbbing of pain in my chest.

Emma and Nate walked in as I was emptying the last two bottles.

"Sam, what are you doing?" Emma ran over and grabbed my arm.

"Proving I will do anything to get her back," I never looked up from the sink, focusing on what I'd been doing.

Nate came over and put his hand on my shoulder, "Thought you might say that. Go pack your bags."

I dropped a vodka bottle in the sink as I looked at him, confusion running throughout my face.

"Dude, you're not gonna let her go home and be alone after a break up, are you?"

"She doesn't want me. If she did, she would've stayed."

"Or she's testing to see if you love her enough to chase after her."

"She'll be home by five thirty tonight. If you hurry, you'll make it on a plane to be there by nine. If you let us take you, we'll handle your ticket as long as you pack."

I ran upstairs immediately and packed faster than I should've. I ran downstairs with my bag realizing I forgot my phone.

By the time I came back down with everything, Emma and Nate were ready. We got to the airport with an hour to spare until my plane was supposed to board. I got through security easily for it being this late in the morning.

I hated being around this many people. All I wanted was to be with Claire.

Just a few more hours until I get to see her.

Wait.

What if Claire won't let me in? What if she doesn't want me to chase after her? What if I was just looking whipped showing up the day she left me?

These thoughts would consume me my entire flight.
