SEVENTEEN

"Psst," Skylar heard while being nudged in the back. She turned around in her seat while Mr Harris had his back turned, to see that Kristin was secretly handing her a note.

Never in her whole entire school life has Skylar ever been given a note nor never handed out a note.

After all, that could get her in trouble and that would ruin her perfect record of no detentions, right?

She looked around just to check if anyone is watching her, then she unfolded the small note. It read, 'guess what Luke told me?' Skylar looked at Kristin confused. Then she quickly wrote something next to Kristin's note in her neat, small handwriting, 'Dunno. Please tell me.'

For the next five minutes in their science period, the girls kept sending notes back in forth, Kristin saying 'c'mon, guess' and Skylar pleading her asking her to tell her. For some reason, Kristin refused to tell her until the end of the period.

When the bell rang for class to be over, Kristin sped out of the room as per usual and surprisingly, Skylar ran right behind her.

When Skylar was close to touch Kristin, she grabbed her shoulder, bringing her back gently. "Tell me what... he said." Huffed out Skylar. It's been a while since she's done proper exercise. She was never into being fit and having good stamina. After all, she never liked P.E or any type of physical activities.

Kristin looked around suspiciously first then pulled Skylar to an empty classroom, closing the door behind her.

"He told me," trailed off Kristin.

"He told you...?" Now Skylar was confused. Was Kristin afraid to say what Luke told her.

"...that he thought your work uniform was very cute." Finished Kristin.

"That's all?" Questioned Skylar.

"Well..."

"Well what?"

"Just meet him behind the portables after school. He'll tell you the other part himself." Then Kristin walked away very quickly to her next class, leaving Skylar all alone in the middle of the hallway.

Skylar was actually excited to see Luke. Every time she saw him, her stomach fluttered with butterflies.

When the bell rang, straight away Skylar ran for the portables. She knew that Luke is already there because he texted her saying that he had a free period.

She was so nervous. What would Luke want to tell her? Hopefully it's something good, thought Skylar, thinking of all the different things that he may bring up.

When she finally jogged to the portables, memories flew around her brain of when her and Jess were behind these portables with Kristin, changing up their uniform.

She hasn't been behind these portables for a while. Normally every Wednesday Jess and Skylar would meet up to eat Doritos behind the portables. It was their thing. Now Jess keeps cancelling saying that she has work to complete.

Now, the only time Skylar sees Jess is when they share the same classes. Other than that, they normally just text each other.

"Hey, Sky!" Luke waved. Skylar sheepishly waved back.

"I brought you um something." Luke told Skylar, taking something out of a brown, paper bag. "Remember when I said I'll make you a proper Vegemite sandwich? Yeah I thought that maybe instead of coming over to my place, you can um, try it today and uh, maybe later if you like we could go er, out... Yeah."

"Like on a date?" Questioned Skylar, taking the wrapped up sandwich from Luke's hands, fiddling with the glad wrap that was tightly wrapped around it.

"Yes, um, only if you want it to though."

"Yes, I'll like to go on a date with you."

"Yes! I-I mean lovely. Sound great." Stammered Luke. His cheeks turned a little red. Skylar giggled. "It's Friday night so maybe I can drop you off home so you can get ready. I brought some clothes in my bag and I can get changed in my car. We could get some dinner and go for a nice walk or, whatever floats your boat."

He continued to ramble on and Skylar knew he was nervous and stuff. She was herself. Skylar has not much experience with boys. She's only been on a couple of bad dates and had a 'boyfriend' in primary school.

"Luke," Skylar tried to get Luke to stop rambling for a second."It's all fine. Don't worry." She slung her backpack on her back and grabbed Luke's hand, entwining their fingers together and squeezing it tight. "Let's get going, yeah?" Luke nodded in agreement.

"Thanks for saying yes by the way. It would of been so awkward if you rejected me." Luke smiled.
