Thanksgiving 2013

Monday Steve and I drove to my parents house in (w/y/f). We loaded up into my car with our bags in the trunk and plenty of snacks in the glove box. Steve insisted he drive. We left at around 5 in the morning and stopped at a hotel halfway.

The next day we back got on the road about the same time, I drove this time. We made it to my parents house at around 5:30 in the afternoon. Steve was getting a little nervous because this is the first time for him to meet my parents.

"We have arrived at our destination," I announced as I put the car in park. I grabbed my luggage while Steve got his bags. "You good," I asked him as we stopped on the door step.

"Yeah I'm great," he smiled. As soon as I pressed the door bell and not a second later did the door swung open.

"(Y/n)," Mom smiled as she pulled me into a tight hug.

In my peripheral I could see Steve stand awkward next as Mom led us in.

"Hey Dad," I smiled pulling him into a tight hug.

"Hey sweetie," he stumbled back. Then I pulled away to introduce Steve.

"Mom, Dad this is my boyfriend Steve Rogers." I rested my hand on his back and lightly pushed him forward. Dad extended his hand and Steve shook it firmly.

"Woah! That's some grip," Dad chuckled as they shook hands. After Mom just gave him a hug.

"We've heard so much about you. I'm so glad y'all made the time to come down here and spend Thanksgiving with us!" Mom smiled brightly.

"It's a pleasure to be here ma'am," Steve grinned as she lead us to our rooms.

"Oh, you can call me (Y/M/N). Ma'am makes me feel old," Mom chuckled.

Once we got all of our luggage situated my parents took us out to my favorite restaurant.

"So... Steve..." Dad searched for words, "what else do you do other than save the world, like hobbies."

"Um right now I'm kinda catching up on all the things I missed when I was in the ice, sir." Steve answered.

"What's some of your favorite things," Dad asked as I turned to Mom and let the guys bond a little.

"What happened here?" Mom raised her eyebrow at my still lightly bruised hand tightly bound in a black brace.

"Oh nothing I... I just tripped and caught my self the wrong way," I lied. I hated lying to her but she would have a heart attack if she knew what really happened.

"So how's the spy work going," she had a half hearted smile. She was all to aware of the fact I worked for shield.

"It's been slow actually," I sighed. "I'm actually starting to help out with the avengers not and more.'

"Oh wow. Hanging out with the big guns now are we," she joked, "I guess someone has to keep those boys in line." I could only respond with laughter.

We ate and used the time to catch up, then went back to my parents house. When we got back I went up to my old room and changed in to pj's while Steve was still down stairs talking to Dad.

Steve's pov-

After we got home from dinner (y/n) went upstairs, leaving me to chat with her parents. Her mom soon excused herself, now just leaving me and (y/d/n).

Though we had just met hours ago, I knew now was the right moment to ask. This question. My palms we clammy and I could feel my heart beat in my ears.

"Mr.(l/n)," I looked down at my feet. "You know, (Y/n) and I have been together for a little over a year now and we've been through..." I sighed, "a lot. And something happened a while back that made me realize that I didn't want to live the rest of my life without her."

I paused not knowing how to articulate my next request. "Sir, may I please have your blessing to marry your daughter," I plead.

(Y/d/n) was taken by surprise at the question. But he quickly put on a serious face, which intimidated me. "Do you love her?"

"Yes sir, very much," I nodded.

"Tell me one specific thing that makes you love her so much," he asked with a face of stone that I could not begin to read

"Where do I begin," I paused. "She's been to hell and back she still is the most kind and genuine person on the planet, I love that." I spoke nothing but the truth. (Y/d/n) furrowed his eyebrows and looked me up and down then sighed. His face softened.

"Yes you have my blessing, but if you ever, ever hurt her there will be a shallow grave waiting for you." No doubt he had fun saying that.

"I wouldn't expect anything less. (Y/n) deserves the best and I'm willing to give her the world," I replied offering to shake his hand.

"Welcome to the family son," he grabbed my hand and shook it.

"Thank you sir." After that I went up to the guest room to change.

Once I did that I  went to (y/n)'s room to kiss her good night, but she was already passed out. So I placed a kiss on the forehead then went back to the my room and tried to sleep. But I couldn't, I just was too exited about what was to come.
