*A/N: I changed the point of view, I thought it sounded better this way🤷🏼♀️.
It was 6:45 and 7 o'clock was nearing fast. I sat on the couch waiting, nervously tapping my foot. Because of my work at S.H.I.E.L.D. I learned how to put on a calm but confident exterior, but that had dissolved into my usual shy almost anxious personality.
6:50, the clock seemed to move at super speed. I was looking forward to this night out to make a new friend or more, but I didn't think I would be this nervous.
6:55, I got up and went into the restroom making sure I looked okay. I was wearing a blush pink t-shirt under a jean jacket, with black skinny jeans ripped at the knee, and some white slip on vans. I deemed myself presentable then stood in the living room waiting anxiously for a nock on the door.
7:00*Knock knock* I practically jumped out of my skin and rushed to the door awkwardly fumbling with the lock. I was embarrassed already without knowing why. I opened the door slowly revealing Steve in a casually nice outfit.
We both smiled, I blushed a little, then he spoke, "You look very nice tonight (y/n)," Making me blush harder. "Ready to go?"
"Thank you. Yes just let me lock the door." I turned to lock the door then my jacket got caught revealing my holstered weapon. I brushed it off acting normal in hopes he didn't see. Then I close the door. "Ready?"
"Yes," he nodded gesturing for me to go first. I gave him a bashful smile and started walking toward the elevator. I pressed the button and the doors slid open immediately.
Again he gestured me to go saying, "ladies first." I stepped into the elevator pressing the button for the lobby.
"Thank you for being so gentlemanly, there are not enough people in this world who appreciate the art of simply being kind to be kind." I complimented him.
"It's nice to meet someone who understands that," he nodded in thanks and agreement, "Where are you from?" He added shyly.
"Um, I'm from (w/y/f). What about you?.. Oh nevermind." I replied now nervously playing with the hair tie in my wrist. The elevator stopped and we got out.
"Brooklyn to answer your question. I'm guessing you knew that though. That's not surprising." He said reassuring me fixing the awkward atmosphere I set.
"Yeah, honestly when we met I didn't recognize who you were at first," I replied as Steve held the door for me. "Thanks, then I got worried that you would think I only returned your sketchbook because your 'Captain AMERICA'." I squealed imitating an excited fangirl making him laugh more I than expected."I'm not gonna lie it crossed my mind, but you seemed genuine." He answered still chuckling a little. I smiled.
"Yeah, I'm not the fan girl type." I wasn't surprised when I saw a motorcycle waiting for us but I had never been on one be for.
"Here," he handed me his helmet and got on. I followed putting my arms loosely his muscular form, unsure of what to do. "Hold on," he warned as we took off.

I sat down at the table of the small burger place we decided on. The ride here was pretty quiet other than the noises of busy New York.
"What do you like to do, like in your spare time?" He started the conversation as I looked through my menu.
"Well I run, and I draw a little, I used to do it more in high school." I fiddled with the edge of the laminated list of burgers.
"That's nice. When did you graduate?" He asked curiously.
"I graduated in '04. I turned 26 in September." The waiter introduced himself and I told him what I wanted to drink. "I would like a (f/d) please."
"Ok and you sir," he motioned to Steve.
"I would like a Coke please." He announced.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We spent dinner getting to know each other's personalities and I had a great time. But 9 o'clock was nearing and I dreaded the thought of working through those case files.
"Can I have the check please?" Steve asked the waiter, he insisted on paying the bill. "Would you like me to drive you to work?" He looked at me. Now was my chance to tell him who I worked for, honestly. But I didn't know-how.
"Oh...yeah...well...um.....Yes, I would like that, but I need to tell you something before we go." If I didn't say it now I didn't think I ever would, "I... I think my work may be very familiar to you." He looked at me seriously as if expecting what was about to come out of my mouth. "I work for... S.H.I.E.L.D."
His jaw clenched and he seemed to be deciding if I were here to check on him for Fury or here by complete coincidence. "Oh, so that's what the gun is for. Okay," he kind of chuckled as I patted my side and put my face in my hands in embarrassment. "What do you do there?" He seemed to want to give me the benefit of the doubt as his face softened into a smile.
"I'm a specialist in behavior and tactics." I looked at him and said, "I swear I'm not someone keeping tabs on you for Fury, honestly I promise." I hoped he believed me, not wanting to lose this friendship that had just been born.He shook his head totally brushing it off and asked, "What does a behavior and tactics specialist do?" The waiter came with the check as I answered.
"Usually they bring me in to assess a hostile situation where the assailant is standing off, especially when hostages are involved. I look at how they are acting and determine whether they could be talked down or if other options should be looked at." I explained, the waiter brought his card back. "If the latter is evident then I find the best way to get the hostage out without fatalities." I finish.
"Wow, that seems stressful." He said getting up I followed. "You must be busy?" I looked at him with one eyebrow raised and laughed. "What?" He said confused.
"I haven't had a real case in about a month and a half. I do have a pile of files about as tall as you that keeps me pretty busy though." I grumbled putting on his helmet.
"Oh." He sighed as he started the engine. "Maybe I could help you with them." He looked at me for an answer.
"That would be nice, but you really don't have to if you don't want. I'd like that though." I smiled to myself with excitement.
