Chapter 28-Explain

(Harry's POV) 

I gaped at the sight before me.Amanda too was staring at me,perplexed.

"Amanda you're not supposed to-"Eric started but he stopped mid-sentence.

"Is this some kind of sick joke?"I asked,livid."I saw her dead body,and now this?"

"Harry,please-"

"No!She's dead,and I was the reason she died!"

"Harry...."She finally spoke."I'm not dead.See?Perfectly human."She said as she took my hand in her small hands.I took a step closer and smashed my lips into hers.She's alive.

"Can't you at least take this inside?"Eric asked,frustrated.He obviously never saw his daughter kissing a guy before.Then again,he never met his daughter.I realized I shouldn't be so snarky in my head when Amanda led me inside,grabbing my hand as if she'd never let go.She led me to the living room.It was cozy,with a blue love seat and a red armchair.The coffee table had a small stack of books.Dan Brown,Steve Berry.Amanda and I sat on the love seat,with Eric in the armchair.

"Okay,can somebody tell me what the hell is going on here?'I asked.

"What do you want to know?"Eric replied in a bored tone.

"How is Amanda not dead when I saw her dead body back at the house?"

"You see,it was all in careful planning and precise timing.I was supposed to go and confront my wife,once and for all.But then I heard that Amanda was in town.I wanted to keep her away from danger so I was following her this morning.When I saw that she was heading for Elsa's house,I knew I needed to get help.So I got my sister,who agreed to help play as Amanda.So I knocked Amanda out inside the house and brought her here before anyone sees."

"But then what about your sister?The serum must have killed her or-"

"The serum was switched with a liquid that could stop your pulse for a while.In fact,"He looked at his watch."She should be awake by now."

"So,what?She's gonna wake up and find herself in a morgue?And then the officers will question her and what then?"

"She knows what to do."He shrugged.

"That's it.Goodbye."I started to get up but Amanda stopped me.

"Listen to what he has to say."Her big brown eyes looked so sweet.She made her sad puppy face,which has always made me go soft.

"Alright."I said in defeat.

"You have a choice,Harry."Eric said gravely.

"What do you mean?"

"Amanda is still alive,yes.But her family and friends can never know.It would make our identity exposed and I could go to jail.You could either go back to your family and leave Amanda here with me,or you could stay here and live a quiet life.Your choice,Harry."

"Are you shitting me?Of course I'd go with Amanda!She's the love of my life!"I said.

"Oh,Harry!"Amanda gasped."You really would?"

"For you,I'd do anything,sweetheart."I said as I kissed her passionately.I heard Eric grunt and muttered,"Welcome to the family."as he left the living room.

I pulled her into a warm embrace,still kissing her.I felt her snuggling into my chest."Harry?"

"Mm?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."
