Chapter 44

9 months later

Meiza

"Tianshi, are you feeling okay?" Lei asked me as we both got ready for bed. I gave him a small nod even though I was extremely fed up with this baby already. I mean, it had a week since my due date and I had been extremely uncomfortable these past few days.

"Goodnight. I love you," I smiled at him tiredly as I dove under the covers, hoping to get some sleep. He smiled and walked towards me, giving me gentle kiss on the forehead.

"Goodnight my love," Lei smiled. He went to the bathroom as I gazed around the room. Being in his own country, Taiwan, felt like the best place for our baby to pop out into but ever since we arrived here, the baby didn't seem to want to come out anytime soon.

"Please come out. We really want to see you," I whispered. "And I really want to be able to sleep again."

It was about two in the morning when I felt a wet sensation between my thighs. I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before realising what just happened.

"OH MY GOD!" I shrieked, sitting upright and turning to Lei who was sleeping peaceful. Honestly, this guy could sleep through an earthquake and would never know. "LEI!"

I screamed and the only thing he did was squirm in his sleep. I rolled my eyes as I tried to get up but I started getting a contraction that hurt like hell.

"Ah shit," I cursed as I tried contain the pain. I did all the breathing exercises that my doctor informed me to do. At this moment, I felt very much in need of her beside me since my own husband couldn't wake up.

"Meiza is everything okay dear?" I heard Mrs Huaze's voice as she walked into the room. Her eyes widened when she saw my state. "Oh my dear!"

"My water broke," I informed her. "And it hurts a lot."

"I know dear I know. Don't worry, the pain will all be over soon," Mrs Huaze trued to reassure me. She glanced over at Lei who was still sleeping. "Honestly this child."

She went over to him and slapped his arm harshly. She pulled his ear and then his eyes flew open from the pain.

"AH!" He yelled and was about to fuss when he saw his mother run back to me who was struggling to even stand. "Meiza!?"

"Oh finally you woke up," I said sarcastically. He grabbed my hand and supported me.

"I'm sorry," Lei apologised. "But we need to go to the hospital now,"

"You think!?" I replied angrily as Lei and Mrs Huaze helped me down the stairs and into the car. I braced myself for another contraction, gripping onto the arm rest on the car door. Lei jumped into the car and began to drive as fast and safely as he could.

"Shit shit shit," I gritted my teeth as I felt another contraction. This one hurt a lot more, as if my whole body was being ripped in half. "It hurts."

"You can power through it Meiza. It will all be over soon," Lei tried to reassure me, holding my hand as I gripped it tightly.
