Chapter 41

Landing in Canada was probably one of the most frightening experiences Meiza had to go through that day. She hated flying and it was worse because she didn't have Lei beside her for comfort. They were supposed to sit together but Lei suddenly changed his mind and switched with Shancai. Did I really hurt him that badly?

"What's going on between you and Lei?" Shancai asked when they entered the cabin they would be staying at for the next few days. The girls arrived first so Meiza was able to freely speak to her sister and Shancai. She was glad that Ximen's girls wanted to go with him.

"Can we sit?" Meiza asked, leading them to the couches in front of the fireplace. The girls sat, taking off their scarves and snuggling up on the sofa.

"So... Ju already knows this but I went to Doctor Wu the day before and she basically told me that I have a extremely low chance of having children," Meiza explained to Shancai. She gasped and her eyes filled with sadness for the young girl.

"And so yesterday when I came back home from work - exhausted and stressed out - Lei was already in my room. I haven't told him still about my appointment and then he tried to help me pack and I just ended up yelling at him and kind of kicked him out."

"That's why he's acting weird," Ju pondered. "Meizou was telling me stuff they had discussed as well and to be honest I think he's kind of overreacting."

"Yeah even Ah Si mentioned something," Shancai added and Meiza's eyes widened at the two ladies.

"Well?! What did they say?" Meiza asked desperately. She did feel bad for yelling at him but her feelings of worthlessness and misery overpowered that guilt of shouting at her husband.

"Uh... Lei thinks you're cheating on him," Ju said bluntly. "But that's absurd because it was just one small argument. So he obviously has some trust issues."

Meiza stayed silent for a while before breaking down into sobs. She buried her face in one of the cushions and cried her eyes out. Shancai and Ju immediately enveloped her in a hug, patted her head and stroked her hair.

"I just don't know what to do. Yes, deep down I may not be ready to have a child but I've already made him wait for so much and it kills me to see him put aside his wants for me. This time I wanted to do something for him but I guess the universe hates me because I can't even give him a fucking child!" Meiza ranted, tears streaming down her face. "How is he even going to keep loving me after I tell him? I can't give him anything. All I do is prevent him from getting the happiness he deserves."

Shancai and Ju remained silent. They wanted to tell her that Lei would still love her because he knows there is no one else for him other than Meiza. They wanted to make her feel better but the door opened and the rest of the crew piled in. The three girls quickly stood up, Meiza wiping her eyes profusely and straightening her jacket.

"Oh it's so warm in here," Ah Si smiled as he walked in. They found the three girls standing near the fireplace, two of them smiling.

"Welcome to the infamous Daoming lodge. A lot of stuff has gone down here," Ximen announced to his two lady friends. They giggled and gazed at the lodge.

"Is everything okay?" Meizou asked as he walked towards Ju. Meiza turned around and gave her brother a small smile.

"Don't worry. Everything's fine. Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom," Meiza said before hurriedly going upstairs. Meizou looked worriedly at Ju who sighed and glared at Lei.

"Does Lei still think Meiza is cheating on him?" Ju whispered to Meizou.

"He doesn't believe it so I guess that's something... right?" Meizou asked. Ju scoffed.
