Not your Choice

The bell marking the lunch period rang, and the students from 1-A headed over to Lunch Rush's cafeteria. The UA cafeteria was characterized for serving gourmet foods with a wide variety of flavors and cuisines, all prepared by the pro hero himself. The smell was exquisite, and made it an amazing experience for all students. (Y/N) was always overwhelmed by the amount of choices, and had difficulty picking what to eat. Today was especially difficult, as she had to ponder on what food would Rocky like to eat.

Maybe he would like the tuna sushi. I think tuna sushi is a good choice. I mean, all cats like fish, right?

But what if it is too overwhelming for a kitten? Should I bring something less chewy? I think I will bring a little of everything.

(Y/N) took her plate and sat on one of the tables to the right of the cafeteria. She grabbed her chopsticks and quickly ate her rice and a couple of slices of breaded pork. The rice was perfectly moist, and the pork felt like an explosion of spices and crunch.

"You really are in a hurry today, huh?" said her classmate Nemuri, as she took a seat next to her.

"Uh, yeah! I want to use part of my lunch time to study for our coming quiz tomorrow. Who knew hero laws were so intricate, right?"

"Rukiyo! Tamara! Over here! Let's all have lunch together!"

As Nemuri waved over to the other two girls, (Y/N) placed a napkin on her lap and saved some of the sushi, breaded pork and sliced beef. Rocky was one lucky kitten to have some of Lunch Rush's delicious food.

"I am sorry to leave so suddenly. I have to go study. We will have a full lunch soon, I promise!" said (Y/N) as she put the napkin into her bookbag, a bottle of water and closed the clip. She lifted one leg and placed it over the bench, then made her exit as she put her bag over her shoulder.

"Don't overwork yourself (Y/N)! Remember to save some time for your friends." said Nemuri.

(Y/N) waved and smiled at Nemuri from the exit.

"Man, every time..." Rukiyo sighed.

"I know. Is like every time we have a chance to get to know her, she has something else to do. She is a very sweet and smart girl, I wished we could become closer" replied Tamara.

"It's like she's up to something. I guess that is what you can expect from a top student. No wonder she is the best" said Nemuri as she placed a bite of food in her mouth.

As (Y/N) approached the study room, she saw Shota coming into the room with the box Rocky was in. Her heart started beating faster, thinking about the little kitten. She imagined the worst possible case scenario. Rocky probably ran away. He's lost in this huge building. The poor thing didn't even have lunch! What is going to happen to him? I have to find him! What if principal Nezu or Rubberband find out?! She ran over to where Shota was.

"Shota! Where is Rocky?! Is he ok?!"

"Yes, he is here. I took him over to the garden because he wanted some relief."

Rocky was not the only one relieved in that moment.

"I saw you with the box, and for a moment I thought he was gone!" said (Y/N) panting and grabbing her knees.

Shota looked at her with concern. He did not know her very much. His first impression of (Y/N) was when Yamada began asking her questions on the first day. She seemed shy, and not very out there with everyone else. He knew she quickly rose to one of the top spots in class. Her training was probably extensive given her performance in the challenges, but other than that, she wasn't more special than his other classmates. He didn't think much of her back then, as he wasn't here to make friends. He was here to become a hero and nothing else. But now, what had changed? Why was he concerned about her?
