"It's Not About The Destination, It's About The Journey."

Kennedy's Pov
I walked downstairs groggily in my black yoga pants and a large purple hoodie with the hood over my head and the drawstrings pulled to the point where I can barely see. I went into the kitchen to find my dad and Diane in there, both still in pajamas.

"It's nine a.m. on a Saturday. Shouldn't you be at some fancy breakfast with your lawyer friends?" I asked grabbing the carton of orange juice out of the fridge. I got a cup out of the cabinet and started pouring and drinking like they were shots.

Yes. Shots of orange juice.

"Not today. Your fathers friends all went bowling and didn't invite us." Diane said glaring at Dad.

"I'm sorry Diane! When they asked if I liked bowling I didn't think they meant they were going this weekend. If I knew I would've said yes." Dad groaned. Diane rolled her eyes.

"You never know Tom! You never know!" She exclaimed all of a sudden and walked away crying. I stared at my dad with wide eyes and he sighed pinching his forehead.

"She's got some crazy hormone thing going on right now. The doctor thinks the babies are coming early." Dad said.

I kid you not when I say I choked on my orange juice.

"What?" I asked.

"We switched to a better doctor and she said Diane is farther along than the other doctor told us as of right now the babies should come in a couple weeks." Dad explained.

Wow. I...am...shook. I mean, Diane looks good for being this far along with twins.

"I should go check on her." Dad said as soon as someone rang the doorbell. I put my juice down.

"I'll get it." I said and we both left the kitchen.

Dad went upstairs to check on Diane and I went to open the door. On the other side is none other that Jason and Danny Hawke. I sort of stared at them for a moment. Just staring. They stared back at me with goofy smiles on their faces.

"What—"

"ROAD TRIP!" They yelled in unison, cutting me off. I jumped in surprise and almost slipped because of my corgi patterned socks on the floor.

The corgi detail isn't important to the situation but...they're corgi socks. Come on!

"Come inside." I groaned because the cold air from the autumn morning doesn't just stop if you're fully clothed. Cold air doesn't just sense clothes and say 'oh snap she's got clothes on, let's go to the next one'. That's not how air works. The air is cold. Period.

I closed the door behind them and we all walked to the living room to sit on the couch. Well, they sat on the couch. I hugged my knees to my chest and pulled my hoodie over my knees so I'm a ball.

"Are your folks home?" Danny asked. I nodded.

"Are they busy?" Jason asked. I shook my head.

"Can we talk to them?" Danny asked as he and Jason chuckled at how much I'm making them work for the answers they want.

"DAD! DIANE!" I yelled.

They'll be able to hear me. They always do. Just like when they call me just as I'm about to get in bed. I always hear them. It should work the other way around.
