"He Is A Shield To All Who Come To Him For Protection."

Kennedy's Pov
The last bell for the day rang and I'm just happy to get out of this place. I feel like today dragged on extra long for no reason whatsoever except to make me suffer. The universe was bored and just decided "I'm going to make Kennedy Watson endure a long and painful Monday." So that's exactly what the universe did.

Well guess what universe, screw you!

I'm hungry. Jason's half burrito couldn't keep a human vacuum satisfied. Sitting at school all day learning about things that I will never need in life makes me hungry. That's just a fact.

I walked out to the parking lot ready to hop in Bertha and drive home. Knowing darn well that food at home is never satisfying enough. That is until I saw Jason sitting on the hood of his car a couple spots away from Bertha.

Eat?

Chat with Jason about completely nothing?

Eat?

Jason?

Eat?

All in all...the answer is Jason. Why whenever I could just drive and get food? Well, I don't even know a logical answer to that. I like talking to Jason, the guy who made me break into the school the first day we met, so hop off my back.

"Hey person that was supposed to tutor me in chemistry but instead became the only person I talk to." I greeted. He looked up from his phone and smirked at me. The fall sun hitting his face perfectly and the wind picking up at the perfect time to swoop his hair.

Yes, his hair physically swooped. This guy owns golden hour like it's nothing.

"Hey person that's supposed to remind me about tutoring but is too busy talking about anything else but chemistry." He said back. I snickered.

"Ha. You're funny. So whatcha doin?" I asked nosily.

"Talking to one of Danny's dealers." He said. I could tell he was trying to say it in a more upbeat tone but he just sounds mad.

"Have I met this one?" I asked trying to joke. Of course I haven't. I've only bet like one. And a half. Sorta.

"Yup." He said popping the 'p'. I froze out of surprise.

"Oh." Is all I could muster myself to say.

I actually remember meeting that guy vividly. I just can't remember his name for the life of me. I just remember his face and how he knew my name. How did he know my name?

"Hey. Don't worry about it." Jason said making eye contact with me. I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded.

"Okay."

We sat in a sort of silence as he texts away and I kinda stand awkwardly. Unless I'm the only awkward one. I don't really know.

"Well, you seem busy. I'm gonna go and find food." I said breaking the silence. He looked up from his phone at me.

"I can take you somewhere." He said stopping me from walking to Bertha.

"Uh, okay." I said. He slid off the hood of his car and got in the drivers seat. I ran to the passengers seat and got in.
