"I'll Be There For You."

Kennedy's Pov
I've been awake since six a.m. for no real reason at all. It's like my body didn't realize that it's Saturday and just screamed "GET READY FOR SCHOOL!" And I couldn't get back to sleep. I've been lying in bed for the past three hours binging 90's sitcoms on Netflix.

"Morning kiddo." My dad greeted suddenly walking into my room.

"Morning dad." I said nonchalantly, not taking my eyes off of my laptop screen.

"So, is Jason coming over today?" Dad asked. I froze for a moment wondering why on earth my dad would ask that question. I slowly looked at him.

"No, he's not feeling well so I'm going over his place in like an hour. Why?" I asked. Dad shrugged.

"Nothing. I wanted to take him somewhere." Dad said and started leaving the room.

"Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! Whoah! Stop it right there father." I exclaimed sliding out of bed. Dad turned back around and looked at me.

"Where do you want to take him?" I asked cautiously. I don't want to just let Jason go with my dad alone and end up dead in a ditch somewhere.

Of course my dad doesn't have the guts to kill someone but he knows people.

"I got him a surprise." Dad said.

Hmmm...more suspicions.

"What is it? A house?" I asked. Dad shook his head.

"No. A smaller scale surprise." He said. I tilted my head.

"A book?" I asked. Dad shook his head again.

"Bigger." He added. I sighed.

"Whatever. You'll see him tomorrow." I scoffed and my dad chuckled at how quick I am to give up.

"I have to get to the office for a meeting. See you later Kenny." Dad said kissing my forehead then leaving. I closed my bedroom door and huffed out a breath.

I might as well get dressed since I'm already up.

I change out of my pajamas and into a pair of black leggings with an oversized light pink sweater that falls off of one shoulder and a gray infinity scarf. I slipped on a pair of tan Ugg boots with the bows on the back. Then I combed out my wavy hair, grabbed my stuff, and walked outside.

I walk over to Bertha and before I open the door I notice an orange something sticking out from one of my rear tires. I walk over to it cautiously and look at the tire.

It's a cat.

There's a stray cat...sleeping on my tire.

I quickly put all of my things in the front seat so my hands are free. Then I walk back over to the cat and carefully pick him up making sure I don't frighten him.

It is a him right? I should check.

...yup it's a him.

"Why you in my tire little guy? Were you cold?" I ask the cat, as if he'll actually answer me. "You don't have a collar or anything. Let's go. I'm taking you with me." I chirped and got into Bertha. I put the cat in the front seat and turned on the seat warmer.

"We have to make a quick stop at the store. I wonder if they'll stop me for carrying a cat into Walmart."
