Hayes' POV
I went to the Y to play basketball with some of my friends. I was there for about 15 minutes, then I saw Sydney walk in.
"You stalking me or something?!" I yelled and laughed.
"You know her?" I heard about all of my friends say at different times.
"My sister has a little kids tumbling class. I was gonna shoot around."
"You play basketball and lax?" I was shocked.
"I guess you could say that."
We played 3 on 3 for a while. I guarded Sydney... Well I tried to guard Sydney, she was fast, and she was good. I didn't even realize that after a while my friends had all left. It was just Sydney and I playing 1 on 1. She ran straight past me and made a layup.
"You look like you need a break," she said and threw her water bottle at me.
We sat down on the bench with both of us breathing so heavily we sounded like we were dying.
"How'd you do that? Like you're really good."
"Oh ya know, I may or may not have been on the 10U state championship team back home."
"Oh that is so cheating!" I flicked water at her.
She backed up, "Now I know why you stick to lax Mr. Grier."
I laughed and told her that I wouldn't throw water at her anymore.
"Any other special talents I need to know about?"
She looked at me, "Not really. You?"
"I have the power to... Do nothing really." We laughed.
I said, "Seems we're both pretty unextravagant."
"I wouldn't quite say that. I can already see some talents of yours that you just don't know about yet."
I was confused, "Like what?"
"Well you'll have to find that out later, because I hear my mom calling for me. Bye Hayes."
"Bye."
This girl always knew what to say to keep me on edge. She always leaves me wanting to talk to her more, she just knows how to keep a conversation going, and god did I like my conversations with her.
