Sydney's POV

I went back up to the porch where Keith and Hannah were still talking. I opened up the door and sat on a beach chair next to them.

"Oh hey, Hayes said you were coming!" Hannah turned around, "Come here, I'll show you where the food is going to be set up and the music."

We started walking over to the food table and she whispered, "I like Keith but I'm not sure if he likes me or not."

I smiled, "By the way that looked, it seemed that he liked you too."

"You really think so?"

Hayes popped out around the corner from the garage and ate a chip, "Keith liking you? How could you not tell? He has liked you for like three years now."

I rolled my eyes, "Stay out of our conversations nosy."

He walked over to Keith as Hannah looked over there with a bright red face.

"Hannah, you're fine. Breathe a little," I joked.

She turned around to me and muttered, "Huh, what? Oh, yeah."

"Girl you need to focus on a life and not just that boy," I said as we both laughed.

More people started to arrive, which meant the more I had to introduce myself.

We played a big game of pool basketball with like 20 people. Hayes' pool was huge I felt like I was at my local pool back home. All of the people at his party seemed nice, he didn't invite Andy which was a plus.

Everyone there seemed pretty nice. I was with Hannah most of the time. Sara couldn't show up, she texted Hannah and said she had to go to her mom's house this weekend. Hayes seemed kind of popular based on the people that were there. I kept an eye out for the people that seemed like the "important ones" at school. My school had one popular group of guys, and one of girls. Our group of guys seemed weird to the girls, yet they were still popular, I don't know, it was weird. Indiana didn't have many attractive boys either. Our group of girls was your typical group of popular girls. They all had big houses, and seemed like if you talked to them when you were around them all together, you might get eaten alive. There was one of them that I talked to sometimes that wasn't too bad when she was by herself. That's the thing, everyone in Indiana was fake. Nobody would admit it if they didn't like someone, and if you got caught talking about someone behind their back, you sure as hell didn't own up to it.

I had one guy friend back home. I went to him for everything. The few girl friends that I had never seemed to have time to talk to me, they were always busy. I spent most of my time sitting in my room watching TV or listening to music. I went through a time where I believed that I was depressed, because I didn't really talk to people, but I wasn't depressed and I was just lonely. My best friend went to my rival school, which was about 20 minutes away, so I didn't get to see her very often. We saw each other when we could, but she was a cheerleader so she was usually busy as well. She was gorgeous. All of the guys at my school and her's were always talking about her. Sometimes it made me feel bad, but she really was pretty. It always seemed that any guy that I liked, one of my best friends would end up dating, but no matter how hot any of the guys I liked thought she was, she wouldn't go for them at all.

I guess I sat at the party thinking about back home for a while, because the next thing I knew Hannah was waving her hand in my face.

"Earth to Sydney..." she said as I finally began to notice her.

I talked to Hannah for the rest of the night until Hayes threw me in the pool. I was going to swim eventually, he just got me to do it. I felt awkward in front of some people, even though everyone seemed very nice. Life here wasn't the same as home and I needed to get used to that. I'm living in a better neighborhood than back home because my dad's job here pays better. It's weird living around people with a lot of money. I'm not used to it, but I need to understand that that is how I live now. Kacey loves it here, I'll just feel better once I make more friends.

I finally went home along with everyone else around midnight. Kacey and Skylynn were inside and they both hugged me before I walked home. When I went inside dad was asleep on the couch and mom was up making herself popcorn and watching Netflix. Like mother, like daughter. She had been binge watching The Office for the past week and a half.

I took a shower to get all of the chlorine out of my hair. When I got out and went into my room it was late and one of the throwback movies was on Disney Channel. It was Jump In and I may or may not have sang along when Push it to the Limit came on. After the movie ended it was about 2:30 and I finally told myself to go to sleep. I wasn't doing anything Saturday, but I was exhausted from getting up to go to school.

*I started a Nash fanfic and I don't know how it's going so far, but go check it out! P.S. Expelled comes out tomorrow, are you all ready?*
