Hayes' POV

Yesterday was fun, and Sydney looked like she had a good time. She still hasn't talked to many people, but I understand. She was with Keith and Hannah, third wheeling it most likely. Those two have liked each other for I don't even know how long. Keith doesn't have the guts to ask her out, but everyone knows they are going to date sometime soon.

I have a football tournament this weekend so I won't be with Sydney much, but that's okay, we agreed that we wouldn't be one of those couples up each others butt all the time. We weren't like everybody else and I like that, all couples now go way too fast, and I used to with the girls I dated, but I guess I wanted to seem cool. I actually felt really bad kissing Sydney when I figured out it was her first kiss because if I was her I wouldn't have wanted that to be my first kiss. She wasn't expecting it at all and I was being stupid. A first kiss is a big thing for a girl and I just kind of threw hers away.

I may be a guy but I'm kind of sentimental about things like that. Relationships aren't meant to go fast like most people do with them today. Now you will hear people saying "I love you" after dating somebody for not even 24 hours, and I wouldn't ever want a girl to say that to me that quickly. If a girl told me I love you that fast I would say it back because I wouldn't want her to feel bad, but I wouldn't mean it, and that is even worse than not saying it at all.

Nash and I were spending the weekend at Dad's while I wasn't at football. Will was still down in Florida because he had game this weekend. Dad has only met Sydney one time after the banquet and he was bringing us to the movies to see 22 Jump Street. He wasn't as embarrassing as the first time, mainly because I told him I would disown him as my father if he said anything.

Coming home after the tournament was so relieving. Skylynn just about broke my back when I came through the door. Sydney was at her house having a family day. While she was texting me she mentioned that she was currently beating everyone in Monopoly. I went up to Sky's room and played horses with her for a while, which meant she sat on my back and smacked me the entire time to go faster.

The doorbell wrung, "Hayes can you get that?!" my mom yelled from her room.

I picked up Skylynn and we piggy-backed to the door, when I answered it was Sydney and she looked like she was really stressed.

I put down Sky, "Syd what's up?"

"Can I come in," she asked quietly.

Nash looked at me from the kitchen and shrugged his shoulders, I don't know what is going on.
