Sydney's POV
We got in the car, "What did you do while Kacey was in her class?"
"Oh nothing, just ran into a friend and played some basketball."
"You haven't played basketball since sixth grade? And you haven't made any friends here. Were you playing with that Hayes boy? You sure do like him." Mom said.
"Yeah, I do." She smiled at me and didn't say another word.
We got home around 9 and I was exhausted. I took a shower and tried to go to sleep but I couldn't. It was around 12:30, my parents and Kacey were asleep, I went down to get some food. I heard banging on the door. I answered it, not even thinking bout the fact I was only in my pajamas.
I saw Nash freaking out, "YOU'RE SYDNEY RIGHT?!"
"Yeah, what's going on?"
"YOU NEED TO COME WITH ME RIGHT NOW!"
"Nash, whats going on?"
"Hayes couldn't sleep so he went outside to play basketball and tripped on something in the driveway and hit his head."
I ran inside and left a note for my parents.
Going to the hospital with Nash, Hayes is hurt. I'll be okay, call me if you need me.
On the ride there Nash looked at me, "I know this isn't the best way to meet, but Hayes doesn't shut up about you."
When we got there I had to wait outside because I wasn't family. I was nearly having a panic attack. I'd only known this boy for a month now, why do I feel so close to him. I liked him, but I'm acting like he's been with me my whole life. I took a deep breath but tears started rushing down my face. Nash made it sound like he was really hurt.
After a while Nash came out, "You look tired, and like you need someone to talk to."
"Yeah, thanks Nash, and thank you for coming to get me."
"You're welcome Sydney."
I hugged him in the waiting room and we sat down, "Why did you come and get me though? It was the middle of the night and I barely know you all."
"Like I said, Hayes never shuts up about you."
"Really?"
"He gets up and showers every morning. Before you moved here, I can't remember the last time he took a shower."
We laughed, "Hey Nash."
"Yeah?"
"Would it be crazy if I liked Hayes?"
"Knowing how much he likes you in a short period of time, definitely not."
Hayes continued to be tested on, and I eventually fell asleep on Nash's shoulder. I don't know how considering my stomach was in knots, but I did.
I woke up the next day, "Feel any better?" Nash asked.
"Where's Hayes? Is he going to be okay? I want to see him."
Nash laughed, I guess I was freaking out just a little, "He's fine, the doctors said you could see him later today. You should call your mom, she's been calling all morning." I just sat there next to Nash, hearing he was okay was enough to untie the knots.
