Sydney's POV
My first day went better than I thought it would. I loved Biology with Mrs. Johnson. After that class was Advanced English and Hayes was in that class with me. Our teacher was Mrs. Marshall, Hannah's mom. Her dad was a Vice-Principal in the high school. I had Spanish 1 last period. Only a certain amount of eighth graders were allowed to take that class.
When I got home my mom was standing at the door. Kacey ran from the bus and hugged her.
"How was your first day honey?" Mom asked her as she started babbling on about some crown she made and colored.
I went up to my room and sat my backpack down by the door. I turned on my TV and it was on ABC Family. I looked at the guide and Full House was on, my favorite show. I'd seen every episode, my parents bought me a boxed set of the entire show for my birthday.
The good thing about the first day of school for this year was that it was on a Friday. I really don't get the point in it, something to do with balancing out the year if snow-days come and the last day of school. I continued watching Full House until my mom came up to talk to me.
"Hey stranger, how was your first day?" she said as she sat down on my bed.
"It was good, my teachers seem pretty cool. I made some new friends."
"Oh really! Who are they?"
"One is named Hannah and the other is Sara. Hannah's parents both work at the school."
"Did you see Hayes at all?"
"Yeah, we have PE and English together."
"Well that's good honey, I'm glad you had a good day. Are you tired?"
"No, I slept pretty well last night."
Mom left the room, I turned off my TV and put my phone in my iHome. Music can cure any feeling I have at any time. I started with Black Widow playing and put it on shuffle. Let It Go came on, which resulted in Kacey and Skylynn running in and us having a full jam session. Jumping on my bed and all. They ended the song by the door and did the sassy slam while closing it, in honor of Elsa.
When they shut the door I saw it creak back open. I laughed just thinking that they didn't shut the door all the way, but then Hayes came walking in laughing and I gave him a glare.
"I may or may not have recorded that..." he said and chuckled.
"I hate you."
"Your mom let me in, by the time I got up here you all were already to the part where she makes a staircase with her hands."
"And you know this because..?" I said while smirking at him.
"Are you kidding? Sky watches that movie and nothing else for days on end. I have it memorized from the ice making song to Elsa talking about those stupid gates being closed."
"Wow. That's... impressive?"
"Shut up. Anyway there's actually a reason as to why I'm here."
"And this reason may be?" I asked as we both started throwing a small football back and forth on my bed.
"Every year my mom has this back to school pool party at our house-"
I cut him off, "Oh boy, am I honored with an invitation?"
"No, I just came to tell you there would be other girls there, possibly ones that I like more, and you're banned from my house for the rest of your life."
I gave him a fake shocked face.
"No, I'm kidding, of course you're invited. We're night swimming with glow sticks in the pool."
"OMG IT'S GOING TO BE LIKE A TUMBLR GOALS POST," I said with a fake girly tone.
"You are really sarcastic and it's beginning to annoy," he said and threw the ball at me really hard.
"I told Hannah she could come over early so you can head over around 6:30."
"Okay, sounds good! Now leave."
"Well then."
I pushed him out the door, "Bye Hayes."
It was only 5:30, so I had about an hour until I had to leave. I went downstairs and told my dad I was going over for a pool party but he didn't care, he was watching the IU football game. He said he'd tell my mom once she came back from the store.
I didn't do much to get ready. I feel like every other girl is going to dress up, but I'm going to swim so I really don't see the point. I put on some waterproof eyeliner and mascara then threw my hair up in a bun. Not a messy bun though, lord knows I can't ever get those to look right, I don't see how girls manage to make those look cute. If I make one I look like my hair has been through a tornado.
I put on a band t-shirt (which is just about 60% of my wardrobe) and some shorts with a pair of tie dye vans I got from my mom as a Valentines Day present. Yes, my parents get me Valentines Day presents because they know nobody else gives me any, sad right?
After getting ready it was about 6. I went in to play with Kacey and Sky for a little to kill time. After about ten minutes they said it was time for their secret club meeting and I had to leave, so I spent the rest of the time watching the football game with my dad.
I went up and got Kacey and Sky and we headed over to the Grier's. The girls ran up to Skylynn's room to get changed into their bathing suits and I stayed in the kitchen and talked to Elizabeth.
"Hi Sydney, how are you liking Davidson Day?"
"I really like it so far! Everybody there was really nice and welcoming!"
"Hannah is out on the back porch, Hayes and Nash are in Nash's room doing who knows what," she joked.
"Okay, thank you Mrs. Floyd!"
"Sydney, you've been coming here for over a month now, call me Elizabeth."
I laughed and headed out onto the back porch where Hannah was there, and it appeared she and Keith were sitting pretty close. I didn't want to interrupt so I went downstairs to Nash's room. I heard Nash playing some video game as Hayes was yelling about what to where.
"Nash people are going to be here, and Sydney, do I wear this shirt or the striped t-shirt?!"
"Bro it's Sydney, she doesn't care. She's chill with anything you know that."
"I still want to look good!"
"I don't know Hayes," he said while ignoring him and continuing to play his game.
I looked through the door and he was wearing a flannel. The striped shirt was pink and white stripes.
"Wear the striped one, this is a pool party not a family dinner," I said as I came in the room.
"OH, SHE GOT YOU," Nash said laughing.
"Okay I'll wear this one, now leave so I can change," Hayes said with his whole face looking cherry red.
"Okay pretty boy, but do remember this is a pool party, and I'm going to see you with your shirt off for hours, that is unless you're too insecure," I winked.
Nash paused his game and laughed, "Dude, your girlfriend is SO much cooler than you."
Hayes pushed me out and shut the door, just like I had done to him earlier.
"Bye Sydney," he said imitating me.
