CAPTAIN MARVEL'S QUARTERS
Bruce Banner and Tony Stark are monitoring various energy levels emanating from Captain Marvel's body, who is resting on a bed. Her fingers are connected to an apparatus.
Bruce Banner- And 3, 2, 1, Boom!
A small current passes through the wire to Captain Marvel's finger, who gives a great jolt.
Bruce Banner- Feel anything? Has the power returned?
Carol Denvers sits up, and tries to project her powers to hit the wall in front of her.
Tony Stark- Not even an electronvolt of energy.
Bruce Banner- I think we should up the power levels.
Tony Stark- No we shouldn't.
Carol Denvers- I agree.
Bruce Banner- Look, Tony. I am sure the power is inside her! Only with a substantial input we'll be able to get that kind of output in return.
Tony Stark- That was a shock of 240 V. It would have turned my fingers to french fries. I don't think we should risk it, not before we are certain that there's no other way.
Bruce Banner- Oh really? And what other way there is?
Tony Stark- I don't know it yet. But one thing is for sure, Banner, is that I am not losing more of our the team, not on my watch.
Steve Rogers (enters)- That's right Banner, we don't trade lives, even for all the power in the world.
Bruce Banner- Captain.
Steve Rogers- Dr. Banner. Stark. Shuri needs your help with the gauntlet detector.
Bruce Banner- Alright, I am on it.
Tony Stark- I'll be right there, captain. I have got to run some tests first.
Steve Rogers- Sure, but don't be late. Half the universe is waiting.
Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner walk out of Captain Marvel's room.
Tony Stark (aside)- Cheesy as hell.
Carol Denvers- What's with you two anyway?
Tony Stark- I wouldn't go into long stories, but in short, I am red and he's blue. That about sums it up.
Carol Denvers- Yet you are still in the team.
Tony Stark- Small sacrifices, compared to yours.
Carol Denvers- I guess it had to be done.
Tony Stark- No it hadn't. You gave up all your powers for half the universe. And they'll not even remember you. Though they don't know you, so logically they shouldn't be able to remember you either.
Carol Denvers- I only use my powers to protect everyone, not for my own benefit.
Tony Stark- If I had such powers, I probably wouldn't care.
Carol Denvers- Then its good that you don't.
Tony Stark- Except that I made a promise to a kid.
Carol Denvers- I am sorry, I didn't know you had lost your...
Tony Stark- He's not my kid.
Carol Denvers- Oh.
Tony Stark- But yeah, I had took him over. Where were you all this time?
Carol Denvers- I was protecting the galaxy from threats that you know nothing of.
Tony Stark- And now, you don't have to. How do you feel?
Carol Denvers- From superhero to super-louse? Its a pretty bad feeling. You wouldn't know anything about it.
Tony Stark- Oh, trust me, I know about it better than you. I have gotten thrashed as much as with the suit as much as without it.
Carol Denvers- Really?
Tony Stark- Yup. Thor, Hulk, Captain, Ultron (a bot I created), and that's just the top of the list. Almost any member of the team could beat me without my suit, apart from the rabbit maybe.
Carol Denvers- And now, I fall into the same league. Back to square 1.
Tony Stark- But you are free now.
Carol Denvers- What do you mean?
Tony Stark- You don't have to "protect the galaxy" anymore. You have your chance for a normal life, to walk out of this mess.
Tony Stark- You can look up to the stars, instead of travelling through them. If your experience of outer space was like mine, I doubt that those days were worth living.
Carol Denvers- They were much better than yours.
Tony Stark- Fair point.
Carol Denvers- But still, it was sometimes dull.
Tony Stark- There's a job at Stark Industries for you. I have read your file, and we need someone to transport Avenger-equipment to our new base here. Not exactly a superhero job, but Barton and Natatsha want their old S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff.
Carol Denvers- Its been years since I flew a plane.
Tony Stark- You'll handle it, most of it's autopilot.
Carol Denvers- Thanks, I guess.
Tony Stark- I have to go now, catch you later.
Tony Stark exits the room. Captain Marvel turns on her hologram-Ipad, and flicks to the news section, which shows a big Thanos projection with the headline "Thanos: King of the Universe".
Captain Marvel- Guys, have you seen this?
