While heading towards my home, this co-worker word was spinning around my head, “does she only think of me as her co-worker” I said to myself . I went into my house , it was huge but I felt so lonely in this house , there is no one with whom I can share my feelings with.

I parked my car and then followed my steps to the elevator. I swiped my card and elevator opens to a luxurious apartment which has a huge living room accented with gold-white furniture, there is a glass staircase that lead to a bedroom, there is a elegant chandelier in the middle of the living room and everything in the house was a combination of white and gold which looks royal.

I went to bedroom and all I could think is of Astrid, when she smiles, curves of her pink lips, her curly hair and her black eyes. God, she is so beautiful but why I am thinking of her, do I like her?

Suddenly my phone rang and I was back into the reality lying alone in this huge apartment.
I picked up my phone.

“Hello mom, how are you” I said.

“I am fine Zach… but your father is in hospital” her voice got hoarse and it sounded like she has been crying for hours.

“Why mom what happened to him” I asked with worry.

I was getting nervous with every passing second because I know my relationship with my father is not great but still he is my father and I do love him.

“He had a minor heart attack early this morning, I and Connor rushed him to the hospital” she said sobbing. Connor is my First cousin who helps my father manage the business.
“Doctors are saying that he might get severe heart attack in future, I am afraid son I don’t have anyone along my side, please come home son” she said crying.

I was shocked to the core, my Dad was strong, Healthy and had an even stronger immune system how could he have an heart attack.

“I am coming home mom don’t be afraid for him, he is a strong and loyal man he will make through it. I am getting on my next flight which will take 10 hours to reach Edinburgh” I said caressing her.

Next day I met Astrid in office and told her that I will be going to Edinburgh, my home, as my father is not in a better place. So to give shoulder to my mom and to giver her strength I have to go.

“Take care of your mom and when is your flight” she said worry itching with her voice.
I could sense how heartbroken she was after hearing this news but I have to go to my family, they need me most at this time.

“ In evening, at 4:00 pm, It will take 10 hours to reach Edinburgh” I said tiredly. As I haven’t slept since my mom has given me this news, this news has  hit me so hard that I couldn’t sleep

I bid goodbye to Astrid, and her best friend Lucy.

I wanted to hug Astrid and cry in her arms. I was feeling so heartbroken at that time with all this tension going inside my head.

I headed towards my house packed some clothes and left for airport. All my way I was only thinking of my mom, how is she feeling, I wanted to reach Edinburgh as soon as possible.

After 10 hours of hectic traveling finally I reached my home town, driver was already waiting with a car, I hopped inside the car  with a bag and asked driver to take me to the hospital where my dad is hospitalized.
Though, I was very tired but I wanted to see my mom how she is handling this all and my father, though me and my father are not on the same grounds but right now he needed me and I am his son.

Car stopped in front of Royal Edinburgh hospital which is known for his great services and deep inside my heart was hoping that  they can make my dad’s condition better. I called Connor “ Hey cuz I am here where are you?”

Connor took me to the room no. 109 where my father was hospitalized, as I reached there I saw my mom who was sobbing, her eyes were swelling and she wasn’t looking in a great condition.

“mom” I said and gave her a warm hug. “Everything will be fine, they have a great team of doctors and they will treat dad better” I said giving her a hope.
She nodded but didn’t uttered a word.

Then I stepped towards room 109 where dad was lying unconscious, as I saw him, a big giant lump took residence in my throat, almost to the point of suffocating me, I have always knew my dad as strong as a pillar but here he was lying unware of  the world.

I stepped backward and hugged my mom and ask her to come home with me but she denied, she doesn’t wants to leave dad in this condition. So I decided to go home as I  was very tired with this traveling,
As I reached home I hit shower, ate dinner and went to sleep.

It was 12:00 noon when I opened my eyes and searched for my phone, there were 5 messages from Astrid.

“Hi”
“reached?”
“Hello again”
“How is your dad's condition? Is your mother alright?”
“Message me when you have time”

Yesterday I was busy that I didn’t had time to look at my phone, as soon as I read Astrid's message I replied her, she was looking in a worried tone.
“Sorry I wasn’t able to reply to you as I was so busy and yes dad is in a better condition, take care” I hit send.

I lied to her about dad’s condition because I don’t want her to take any tension because of me.

After having some breakfast I went to the hospital so that I could know about my dad’s condition.
